Artist of the Month: Dave Kiehm
'Foundation Wall'
Dave Kiehm of Milford has shown his work exten-
sively in the region, and he was named 2013 Wildlife
Artist of the Year by the British Broadcasting Corpo-
ration. His "Foundation Wall" oil painting (pictured),
chosen from more than 1,400 entries in the Inter-
national Artist Category-Birds, was featured in the
September 2013 issue of BBC's Wildlife magazine
and will be showcased at the Marwell International
Wildlife Art Society's annual wildlife art exhibition.
About the Artist
Kiehm will give a closing talk at 4 p.m. Thursday,
March 6, in the Project Space Gallery at SUNY
Oneonta for his exhibit "The First 7 Years: The Wild-
life Art of Dave Kiehm," which was on display during
February.
In a statement about his work, Kiehm says, "Inspira-
tion for me has always come from the nat ural world.
As I constantly search for subjects, it is easy to
become overwhelmed with the infi nite possibilities
that appear everywhere. I love that everything around
me can become a paint ing. The hard part is to scale
down all I see and create an interesting design that
will excite and challenge the eye."
