The Zeta Phi page 2 page 3 Active Chapter Academic excellence Continues a cademics are of paramount importance to the men of Beta Theta Pi. We pride ourselves on diligent study habits and rigid academic standards. This has enabled our chapter to maintain a dominant position atop the Greek academic rankings each semester and have a high regard among faculty members at the university. The fall 2013 semester was no exception. The Zeta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi continued the academic legacy by surpassing all other chapters with an average GPA of 3.335. This was significantly higher than the all-Greek average of 3.1 and the all-fraternity average of 2.9. In comparison to the rest of campus, the university average of 3.01 and the all-male average of 2.874 were well below the Beta Theta Pi average. This completes the seventh straight semester that Zeta Phi has led all fraternities in academics. The pursuit of such academic success begins with the new members' education program. Every week of the first semester, an active scholarship chairman presides over the freshmen study hall consisting of 20 hours of mandatory study hall in a state-of-the-art auditorium. The freshmen this fall surpassed the all-freshmen average of 2.7 with an impressive 3.392. Note that this far exceeds the 2.8 minimum required to be initiated as a member of Beta Theta Pi. Another semester of great achievement by the chapter and its new members continues the tradition of excellence established by all the preceding members. Chapter Officers_______________ Undergraduates Benefit from Men of Principle Initiative Alumni, Help Keep This Training Going o ver 10 years ago, the General Fraternity launched its Men of Principle Initiative. A major part of that program has been the leadership training that has been made available to the undergraduates. These formalized programs have had a very positive impact on chapters across the country and Zeta Phi has participated in some of them. This program has been made possible in part through donations to the Beta Leadership Fund (BLF). From time to time you receive a mailing from BLF and I encourage you to support it each year. If enough of us contribute $100, the programs will continue to benefit young men. In _kai_, John Hillhouse '69
