Burk, M.D. '54 passed on to Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on March 20, 2013. He enjoyed 25 wonderful years with friends and family after being diagnosed with prostate cancer and starting treatment at age 55, causing him to end a successful internal medicine practice in Liberty, Mo. He celebrated life by pursuing a variety of interests, most of them outdoors from golf, tennis, scuba diving, canoeing, skiing, sailing, hiking, or traveling the country and visiting friends fulltime behind the wheel of a 40-foot RV. During these last years of his life, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, reading and watching Missouri football and basketball. He was proud that his children and grandchildren, as well as his brother's children, Brion Burk, Donna Burk Winter, David Burk (a Zeta Phi brother), and Phillip Burk, all graduated from the University of Missouri. Dr. Robert C. Berry '58 passed on to Memory and Our Mystic Shrine in 2012. aluMni uPdate Tom Coghill '48 and his wife, Patricia, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2013. They reside in Phoenix, Ariz., following Tom's retirement from Thompson Coburn Law Firm in 1995. E-mail: tcoghill@cox.net Robert H. Marty '55 retired in December 2013. He misses his pledge brothers, Tiger Ellis '56, Barton Boyle '55, Dr. H. Peter Ekern '55, and Dr. E.K. Burke '54. Robert and his wife, Shirley, live in Mexico, Mo., and have two children. Dr. Larry F. Small '55 still keeps a hand in the oceanographic world. He visits colleagues and friends around the world and hosts them when they return to Corvallis, Ore., for work or a visit. Larry is a professor and dean emeritus of the College of Oceanographic and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. He and his wife, Janice, have two daughters. He recently returned from two weeks in Russia, has been to Europe to see his Zierenberg heritage, and has visited Africa. He and his wife, Joanie, live in Midlotian, Va., and have three children. E-mail: ejzieren@verizon.net Ben Rector '59 lost his wife of 53 years, Clara, on March 17, 2013. He helped initiate his son, Edwin B. II, into the Beta Chapter at Vanderbilt University. Ben lives in Mount Juliet, Tenn. John P. Miller '65 is a professor of education at the University of Toronto and is the author of 18 books. Jack and his wife, Midori, have two children. Sheets II '72 was pledge class president in 1968-69, received a doctorate in anthropology from the University of Colorado in 1978, then began teaching at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. In 2009, he retired as professor emeritus of anthropology and director of the archives and museum. His research in biological and medical anthropology involves long-term fieldwork in the Inner Hebridges islands of Scotland. He has presented or been published at the British Universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Oxford, and Cambridge. His latest publication appears in the December 2011 issue of the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Clay M. Anderson, M.D.'86 and his wife, Michelle, had a small dinner with his pledge brothers last fall in Prairie Village, Kan., at the home of Mark Frame '86 and his wife, Cathy. They were celebrating Rick Winegar '86 and his wife, Kelly, being home in KC for a short visit. Also attending were Rick Monsees '86 and wife, Laurie. Jeffrey R. Naylor '05 became a diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology in June 2013. Jeff lives in Belleville, Ill., with his wife, Julie.
