My family and I, feel our many Quartzsite friends helped full fi ll our need. Thank you each and every one. Elmer and family, Quartzsite KUDOS TO POST OFFICE Have you noticed a change in the Quartzsite Post Offi ce? A very good idea was ruined by the ac- tions of a few people. For those of you relatively new to Quartzsite, the Post Offi ce was a mess until the new Post Mistress took over a few years ago. Things really changed for the better. Pleas- ant, caring, patient employees now staff the counter and things are running smoother than ever before. These folks are Saints, as not even the nastiest of customer in the long lines, gets a rise out of them. And believe me, some folks having business to do at the Post Offi ce are really unpleasant. This past summer, Parcel Lockers were installed at the Postal Annex. Instead of having to wait in long lines at the Main Post Offi ce, a key was given and you could get your package right away in the locker. The key remained in the lock after opening, and the postal employee could retrieve it, and reuse the locker. It was a great idea and it worked, for a while. Then some thoughtless imbeciles started taking the keys and either waited a very long time to retrieve their packages, or just made off with the key. Of course, that meant the lockers had to be rekeyed with new keys. With the slim budget for the Post Offi ce, this couldn't go on for long. We are back to where we started; waiting in long lines to get our packages. It's a shame as the long lines are now longer again, and the clerks have to run to the back package depository time after time. Sure, as retirees, we don't have to be in a rush, but this is a waste of time, and for some of us, we don't have that much time left. I don't know what it would take to get the Post Offi ce to reopen the lockers, but as a community we are responsible for seeing that offenses such as this don't occur. Damaging Postal property is a federal offense, with dire consequences. If you see damage being done, it's your duty OPINION to notify the police. As a fi nal note, I suggest telling the person behind the counter at the Post Offi ce, "Thank You!" It's not much, but they deserve to be told they are appreciated. Art Piper Quartzsite GENEROUS DONATIONS I am so excited I just need to share. The community has been so supportive to our Southwestern Roundup Art Show. All the nice gifts for door prizes will certainly bring in more people with dona- tions to the Food Bank as well. We have received gifts from, Quiet Time, Quartzsite Bakery, General Store, Grubsteak, Roadrunner Market, Main Street Eatery, Moun- tain Quail Cafe, Express Lube in Blythe, Hardies, and Joyce's crafts. Gifts ranging in price from $20. to $190. Wow! Just wow! The com- munity togetherness is amazing. Oney Budge
