They are learning the history and the types of events that are held during the Winter Olympics, located the town of Sochi on the map, have studied the colors of the Olympic rings and the continents they represent and will be holding their own Winter Olympics with events such as Sock Speed Skating, The Cotton Ball Toss and The Paper Plate Discus Throw. They are using the metric system to measure the distance of the events. The kids filled the socks with toiletries and then tied them togeth- er in pairs so the people at the shelter would not just receive a pair of socks, but things they need like toothbrushes, shampoos and soaps.
