She holds endurance records on the Appalachian Trail, Long Trail and Bibbulmun Track. She is the first woman to become the overall record holder on the Appalachian Trail. She set this mark by hiking the 2,181 mile trail in 46 days, 11 hours and 20 minutes – an average of 46.9 miles per day. She has appeared in the Sunday edition of the "New York Times" and on national television and radio shows such as "CNN Headline News," the "CBS Early Show," and NPR's "Talk of the Nation." Davis has authored three North Carolina guidebooks and her hiking memoir "Becoming Odyssa: Adventures on the Appalachian Trail." She has written for, or appeared within Shape and Fitness magazines, Blue Ridge Outdoors, Backpacker, Trail Runner and Men's Journal. Davis grew up in the North Carolina Mountains and lives in Asheville with her husband. She is the owner and founder of Blue Ridge Hiking Co. Cape Fear Botanical Garden will host its third annual Wedding and Special Event Showcase on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from noon until 4:00 p.m. Tickets will be $10.00 at the door. The Garden's preferred caterers, Elliott's Catering Company, New Deli Catering, and Pierro's Catering will be serving specialty samples. Brides-to- be, fiancés, and guests will enjoy meeting area vendors including bridal and fashion clothiers, makeup artists, photographers and videographers, decorators and florists, wedding and event planners, rental companies, confectioners, hotels, transportation and travel providers. New this year will be two uniquely entertaining runway fashion shows, fueled with lots of artistic energy, and promising many surprises. The first 250 registered guests will receive a Showcase tote bag and a gift from Garden Gift Shop. Wonderful prizes will be offered in drawings throughout the afternoon. Admission to the Garden's spectacular 78 acres of natural beauty is included in the ticket. "For anyone planning an event, be it a formal ball, wedding reception, family reunion, business conference or luncheon … or anything in between, the Showcase provides a wealth of information," says Sharon Osborne, CFBG Director of Events. "Quite literally, one could sample wedding cakes and gourmet dinners, hire a DJ, plan a honeymoon, and arrange the purchase and financing of a first home, within a few hours at this show." The Child Advocacy Center of Fayetteville invites girls and their friends and families to experience the American Girl Fashion Show® on Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Crown Center Ballroom in Fayetteville.
