Thursday, January 30, 2014 – Daily News 1B BULL & GELDING SALE Trade Show opens for business Daily News photo by Andre Byik Lovestruck owner Carolyn LaCoe of Gilroy is a first-time vendor at the Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale trade show. By ANDRE BYIK DN Staff Writer Carolyn LaCoe, a first-time vendor at the Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale trade show, said she was convinced by about eight people to make the drive from Gilroy this week to show at the Tehama District Fairground. Did that advice pay off? "So far it's going good. It's been a good day," said LaCoe, owner of Lovestruck, which offers flashy Western clothing, purses, jewelry and more. LaCoe's business card reads, "Get Your BLING On." She said she started selling jewelry about 10 years ago, but just started her company in April and now shows at festivals and similar events. The trade show started Wednesday and continues today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The show spills from an area near the Don Smith Pavilion to the Ron Knight building, which fosters the distinct smell of leather products. Vendors said Wednesday generally is slower compared to the foot traffic expected today and Friday. Gina Griffin of Santa Rosa and the "silent partner" of John Griffin's offerings of blacksmith tools and trappings, said this is the third year she's shown at the bull sale. "We like it here, and we make good contacts with people," Gina Griffin said. "We just find everybody friendly here in Red Bluff." Her booth is rife with collectibles, such as early 20th century branding books, anvils and classic egg beaters, which look like hand cranks attached to Mason jars. Griffin added she enjoys tapping into the collective knowledge of the vendors at the show as well as supporting them. "So you find someone who does their own stuff, you like their work, you kind of help them out," she said. "Keep them working and keep selling. You don't want that dying art to go away." 4-H poster contest winners Congratulations to the 4-H Fun Night Poster Contest winners There were 28 creative posters and coloring pages submitted as part of the Fun Night publicity.
