Both players, from Redding, said they heard of the course through word of mouth and are excited to have a new location to play. By TANG LOR DN Staff Writer Red Bluff’s very own disc golf course — Dog Island Golf — is open for play. A team of volunteers put in the baskets Sunday, and already there has been lots of interest, said Bran- don Grissom, who led the efforts in building the course. He estimates more than 100 people have already played on the course at Dog Island and Samuel Ayers parks. He started the project as a way to introduce the community to a fun activity that he enjoys, but it has become bigger than that, as news of the course have spread to other communities, Grissom said. Red Bluff’s course is now another stop for avid players who can play on Tehama among counties to target criminal aliens On Tuesday, five Northern California coun- ties - Colusa, Nevada, Plumas, Sutter and Tehama – became the lat- est in the state to benefit from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforce- ment (ICE) federal infor- mation-sharing capability that helps federal immi- gration officials use bio- metrics to identify aliens, both lawfully and unlaw- fully present in the United States, who are booked into local law enforce- ment’s custody for a crime. This capability is part of Secure Communities - ICE’s comprehensive strategy to improve and modernize the identifica- tion and removal of aliens convicted of a crime from the United States. Prior to the activation of Secure Communities, fingerprint-based biomet- ric records taken of indi- viduals charged with a crime and booked into local custody were checked for criminal his- tory information against the Department of Jus- tice’s (DOJ) Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Now, through enhanced information sharing between DOJ and the Department of Home- land Security (DHS), bio- metrics submitted through the state to the FBI will be automatically checked against both the FBI crim- inal history records in IAFIS and the biometrics- based immigration records in DHS’s Auto- mated Biometric Identifi- cation System (IDENT).
