Birth certificate adventure "Dear Mrs. Barber, Enclosed please find the two copies of your birth certificate, which you ordered with the enclosed application. Our state allows copies to be issued by either the state or the county offices. You enclosed a state form, and a check to the state, but sent it to the county office (which really doesn't matter, except that we don't have FedEx, and can't cash the check!) Please don't worry about any of this — I have sent the certificates off through US Post Office — I would guess that you need the information as soon as possible. There is no need to write us another check — sometimes it just feels good to be helpful. Please let me know if you need any further assistance. By the way, the original birth certificate was handwritten on blue paper, which makes it hard to copy (dark), but I am sure these copies will be acceptable for any record filings. Sincerely, C.B." *** I received this letter after several days had elapsed following my sending for it. Yes it was a time sensitive situation and since I h ad ordered it returned by FedEx, I was puzzled. To receive such a gracious letter and the birth certificate official copies too was a wonderful experience. It is not often that such a positive response to an honest mistake is given. Lassen Peak has eruption few minutes Lassen Peak, fifty miles east of Red Bluff and the only active volcano in the United States, was in eruption for a short time late Thursday afternoon. This was according to Justice of the Peace E. F.
