www.cityoffayetteville.org Downtown Fayetteville has the absolute best in monogrammed gift items, men’s and women’s fashions,  jewelry, accessories, furniture, wine, art, crafting needs such as pottery, yarn, quilting fabric and much more! Resolve to Shop Locally What about getting a group of friends together? this Year One of the top New Year’s resolutions that everyone makes is to lose weight and get healthier. Gym memberships go up in January without fail  important thing to do in life and everyone knows it. Well, what about keeping your local economy healthy? I would like to issue the challenge of shopping locally this year. Before you go to a chain store or the mall, try a locally owned, independent downtown shop and see what they have to offer. Not only might the customer service and selection surprise you, but you will also have helped your community. Why? Because according to the 3/50 Project, which is a national movement to “save your local economy . . . . three stores at a time,” for every $100 spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If you spend that same amount in a national chain, $25 less comes back to the community. And if you spend it online, nothing  look at keeping Fayetteville moving onward and upward. How? This is the cool part. Downtown Fayetteville is an easy, and I mean easy, place to shop. Most of you are familiar with the cute shops and the fun items that each carries, but for those who may not have been here in a while, or ever, Did you know that you can reserve the upper room of the Cameo Theatre and have a private movie viewing? Why not pair that with wine and appetizers at your favorite restaurant downtown. Need to redecorate? We have several antique stores downtown and other shops showcasing home décor items that will make it easy. Bring a friend or two down for that all-important second opinion and pair it with a great lunch. What else do I need to know? Visit the Web site, www.the350project.net more. Every citizen concerned about our local economy should take this information and make a New Year’s Resolution to apply The 3/50 Project to their everyday life in 2011 and beyond. So for 2011, make plans, make your resolutions and support your locally owned businesses and support Downtown Fayetteville. You will be glad you did!
