Randolph Irwin GARY DeWAYNE BECKER 09-04-1963 ~ 12-03-2013 Sweet Prince of Life Our hearts are heavy with sorrow that you have left us so soon with so much life left to live - so much love yet to share.... Our journey with you so short in time, yet filled with your essence of love, laughter and warmth. Your beautiful eyes filled with your gentle soul and sweet, welcoming smile was always followed by a gentle hug filled with love. Your love and devotion to your family and the loving memories of your boyhood shared with your sisters will always be cherished. A smile and tug of the heart will be felt every time we see a boy on a horse riding like the wind. A little boy in boots with tools, following his father, Gary Lee and grandfather with determination and pride. That same little boy hugging his mother, LaVerne, just to say "I love you" with just the tiniest hint of a lisp at times. Sharing the discoveries and wonders of the day with his sisters Debbie, Deanna and Darla while exploring down at the creek. The secrets and adventures they shared while sparing their parents the details bring smiles to many faces. The struggle and bravery you showed your entire life facing kidney disease and multiple transplants. Your selflessness and concern for others unmatched in this lifetime even though you were going through so much. Always with a positive outlook and kindness shown to all. The young father holding his tiny newborn daughter, Erin, in the palms of his hands... dreaming of the beautiful young woman she would become under his guidance and the love of the family. The pride and love he felt when he walked her down the aisle and silently thanked God for all his blessings and for the young woman holding onto his arm. No wonder his first sailboat was named the Erin Rae. He was an inspiration for his stepchildren, Jennifer and Aaron, and served as a gentle reminder to them of the unconditional love one can share. This last chapter in the life of our "sweet prince" as his wife refers to him, was one of great joy and true love. He met and married Annalisa, his true soulmate. They completed each other and lived an all too short lifetime filled with love, music, horses, travel, Disney and their own Magic Kingdom in Cottonwood. Their love and undefined devotion to one another filled each day with the wonder of love, laughter, discovery and tender memories beyond imagination. He was able to inspire two additional stepchildren, Ariana and Matthew, showing them the importance of living each day to the fullest and that finding true love was possible at any stage in life. Please join our family for a "Celebration of Life" from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Redding Christian Fellowship Hall, 2157 Victor, Redding, CA given by his loving wife - Annalisa, mother -Laverne, sisters Debbie, Deanna and Darla and daughter - Erin. Sriracha maker: California halting sauce shipments LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Southern Californiabased maker of Sriracha says it can't ship any more of its popular hot sauces to food distributors until next month because the state Department of Public Health is now enforcing stricter guidelines. The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday (http://lat.ms/19iqSB6 ) that Huy Fong Foods says the regulations require the sauces be held for 35 days before they are shipped. The action is the company's second setback in recent weeks. It's being sued by the Los Angeles suburb of Irwindale for filling its air with eye-burning odors from its pepper-grinding sauce operation. The Red Bluff City Council previously approved the project and expenditure plan. Computers in police cars are not unusual, and they were previously used in the '90s and early 2000s by the Red Bluff and Corning police departments before they were scrapped because of reliability problems. Nanfito assured Corning's council members that this project, which calls for upgrades to the departments' networks, would use Verizon air cards to transmit data and would be compatible with both police departments' records systems, wouldn't face the same struggles. Red Bluff police personnel on June 27 responded to a call from a resident saying a man was bleeding on his front porch on the 200 block of Pinon Way in Red Bluff. That man, 28-year-old Forseth, was found to have multiple wounds consistent with those inflicted by a knife. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Hougland, after seeking medical assistance for cuts or stab wounds, was later arrested on suspicion of murder. Hougland, a veteran himself, has pleaded not guilty. Testifying before the court Thursday, Red Bluff police officer Aaron Murray said he responded to the scene about 2:30 a.m. and found Hougland and Forseth at the front of the residence on Pinon Way. He said Hougland appeared to be applying pressure to Forseth's neck to stop bleeding. Asked if he had a conversation with Hougland, Murray said Hougland told him that he stabbed his friend in self defense. Red Bluff police detective Brett McAllister testified that Forseth had stab wounds to the throat and chest, and that a knife lay about 2 or 3 feet from his body. McAllister said the resident on Pinon Way said he heard a disturbance, and saw Hougland and Forseth coming toward him, with Hougland saying, "Call somebody, my friend needs help." 9A the Internet off (my) phone, or you may access the Internet off an iPad or something like that," Nanfito told the council. He added that when the system worked, he could run drivers license and warrant checks in the field without radioing dispatchers. The first phase of the project allocates funds to purchase three computers for each department. In phase two, which would use funds allocated for 2014-15 fiscal year, three additional computers would be purchased for Red Bluff police, and two more for Corning police. The goal is to equip 80 percent of both departments' fleets with the mobile computers. While Nanfito's presentation calls for the project to begin this fiscal year, the implementation time is still unclear. "This initial stage of this project will probably have to carry into the next fiscal year as well because I don't know how quickly we can make this happen," he said. McAllister said he found a trail of blood across the street. Hougland's residence on Pinon Way is across the street from where Forseth was found. The detective said he found a "tremendous" amount of blood at Hougland's residence and throughout the area. He said blood was on the walls, bathroom mirror and outside areas. Another Red Bluff police detective, Scott Curtis, testified that Forseth's cause of death was from loss of blood. Curtis said another witness west of Hougland's residence heard screams the morning of June 27, one angry or mad scream and one "scared" scream. Curtis also said that in a doctor's opinion, Forseth's injuries would have caused him to bleed out in seconds, and that he wouldn't have been able to run across the street. The detective added that it was the doctor's opinion Forseth wouldn't have been able to call out for help because of the wounds to his neck. Hougland's defense objected to the use of the doctor's opinion as evidence, but it was overruled. The defense also said there was not sufficient evidence that this was a case of premeditated murder. Judge Matt McGlynn said the court found probable cause that the defendant committed the alleged charges, allowing the case to continue. Hougland's next court date was set for Dec. 30. He remains in custody. California health enrollment still skews older SACRAMENTO (AP) — New figures show older Californians are continuing to enroll in the state's health exchange at a higher rate than younger residents. Covered California said Thursday that more than 109,000 people signed up for a health plan through Nov. 30. Nearly 60 percent were ages 45 to 64, although that age group makes up just a quarter of California's population. About 21 percent were 18 to 34, compared with their overall population of 25 percent. The demographic numbers are skewed, though, because many children and people over 65 qualify for separate subsidized health coverage. Kids under 18 are a quarter of the state's population. Overall enrollment is slightly higher than a preliminary federal figure released Wednesday, but still about half the number projected before the exchange launched in October.
