C S Theta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity | University of Michigan | fall 2013 Sigma Chis for Life Corporation Strategizes Best Solutions for Housing A s you know, Theta Theta and the University of Michigan have been closely linked for 136 years. Most of us will never forget our times as undergraduate members—the fun social events, cheering on the Wolverines to another football victory, and, of course, the Sigma Chi house at 548 South State Street. This house holds a special place in many of our hearts as our first home away from home. Chapter Legacy Continues With our Chapter celebrating 100 years at 548 South State this fall, we have all been able to reflect on our undergraduate experiences and the bonds we first formed living in the Chapter House. Now, as alumni, we can see how that experience shaped us into the men that we are today. Theta Theta members have gone on to be lawyers, teachers, doctors, and politicians. Because of the values we learned as undergraduates, members of Theta Theta are leaders in their communities. Theta Theta to Create Long-term Plan Our house has been a source of pride and a home for many years. In the past few years we have been able to update the landscaping of the Chapter House, fully updated our kitchen to meet all code standards and bring back meal services for the undergraduates, repaved the parking lot, and completed a full exterior paint job. Each year there are updates and equipment that continue to need replacing. The board remains committed to providing the best learning, living, and leading environment that we can for members of Sigma Chi. Safety is our number one priority and is at the top of our list when allocating funds and projects each year. At this time, there are still plans to be made about the future Theta Theta and we will continue to share exciting updates as they continue. Alumni Support Needed Now We encourage all members of Theta Theta to get involved with Sigma Chi. There are many opportunities to volunteer with the Chapter and its members, and we welcome you to become part of it. I continue to be amazed at all the men I call brothers at the University of Michigan. From our youngest members to our alumni across the decades, I am proud to call you my Theta Theta brothers. In Hoc, Dave Train '83 House Corporation President dtrain@ckgppw.com We Need Your Help A t 100 years old, our Chapter House is in regular need of upkeep and repair. The House Corporation continually works with our property manager and the undergraduate brothers to maintain the facility on a day-to-day basis to ensure we are up to code on all safety and security requirements. For the larger projects we take on, we want to make sure we are taking advantage of the expertise and resources of our alumni. If you have access to or businesses that provide building materials or installation services that you feel could be a benefit to the Chapter, please contact Dan Page '87 at page623@tds.net so that we can assemble a list of available resources to have on file for future projects.
