The best column ever It happens with more frequency than you would think. Someone sends me an email, stops me in person or uses social media to let me know I have written my best column, ever. It is a big deal to me to hear that something I have written has made an impact on someone's life. That there is wisdom to be found in nearly seven years of writing. It makes me happy that I hit the nail on the head and produce something that really matters in someone else's life. The fact is, it is never the same person commenting on the specific columns, which reminds me that it is all about impact, on different people, at different times, reading something that resonates with them, in the place in life that they are in. One readers boring column is another readers A-Ha moment. The recent column, Hard, seemed to hit a lot of people in just the right way. Of course, you can't beat a You Matter column, in all my years of writing them, only two resulted in some controversy. The column on bullying was one of the most highly received columns and resulted in a lot of connections and comments, but there has been one that has really taken off. Letter to a Wounded Soul was such a huge hit, it started a movement. Because of that column, I have had the pleasure of connecting with students at Salisbury High School and together we are creating a book all about wounded souls. What started out as a Q and A session, morphed into a writing project which morphed again into a book. The students at Salisbury are my Police reports 90 years ago... Richfield P.O. robbed; three make getaway The Richfield postoffice, between Corning and Red Bluff, has been robbed four times now. The last time, last night, thieves got away with $5 of postoffice money and $15 belonging to Miss Gladys Apkins, postmistress, who had taken the remainder of the cash home with her at the close of the day's business. — Dec. 3, 1923 DAILY NEWS RED BLUFF TEHAMA COUNTY THE VOICE OF TEHAMA COUNTY SINCE 1885 VOLUME 129, NUMBER 8 HOW TO REACH US On the Web: www.redbluffdailynews.com MAIN OFFICE: NEWS Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. News Tip Hotline: 527-2153 FAX: (530) 527-9251 E-mail: clerk@redbluffdailynews.com Daytime: (530) 527-2151 Sports: Ext. 111 Obituaries: Ext. 101 After hours: (530) 527-2153 ______________________ ADVERTISING DEPT.
