Spirits Soar at Iowa Gamma Undergraduates Celebrate Success and Set Goals for Semester T he spirit of Phi Delta Theta is stronger than ever at Iowa Gamma. We are coming off a very successful spring semester and summer term, recruiting 22 men to the ranks of Phikeia and winning multiple awards at the international level, including being named a Gold Star Chapter by Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters. Box 71081 Des Moines, IA 50325 Address Service Requested 2013 pledge class Visit the Chapter House The active chapter is enjoying the initial renovations to the chapter house and cannot thank our alumni, House Corporation, Chapter Advisory Board, and 100th Anniversary Committee enough for all of the planning and collaboration of the centennial celebration and house renovations. We thank you all for coming to celebrate and reconnect with brothers of past and present at the celebration, and hope if you did not have the chance to come to the celebration, you will stop by 2035 Sunset this fall. Mentoring, Student Alumni Leadership Council, and more. The pride of Iowa Gamma is strong within the active chapter. As the year continues, we are working to improve our G.P.A. for the fourth semester in row, raise money for The ALS Association, serve the greater community, and in true Phi form, have some fun. We hope you will stop by the house to check out all the great things happening at Iowa Gamma. Yours in the Bond, Austin Javellana 1818 Chapter President austinj@iastate.edu Campus and Community Involvement For the first time in five years the active chapter ranked within the top 10 of fraternity G.P.A.s, and the men are hard at work to maintain that spot. Additionally, we enjoyed the Homecoming festivities with the women of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and we also held various philanthropy events, including a t-shirt tie-dye at the Walk for ALS in Des Moines in October. The ADPi and Phi Delt team also qualified for the Yell Like Hell finals. Our members are also involved extensively on campus with organizations like Dance Marathon, Habitat for Humanity, GRIP Chapter Grand (Continued from page 3) grandson were all Phi Delta Theta alumni, and all six children earned diplomas from ISU. Go Cyclones! Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Arjes; a sister, Gloria Ann Barber; children: Chris, Beth, Dan, Alan, Mary, and David; 13 grandchildren; two great‑grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard B. Harris 641 entered Chapter Grand March 25, 2013. He was a resident of Holland, Mich., at the time of his passing. Don B. St. John 789 entered Chapter Grand December 4, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Andi, and son, Timothy; two brothers, Bruce and Phil; one sister, Mary; two granddaughters; and three nephews.
