The index is up 7.9 percent so far this year. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 25.52, or 2.2 percent, to 1,206.07. The Nasdaq composite rose 51.20, or 2.1 percent, to 2,549.43. Bond prices fell sharply, pushing their yields higher. The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond rose to 2.97 percent from 2.80 percent late Tuesday. That yield is a widely used benchmark for loans including mortgages.
