The Chapter House was a dream come true! The May 1932 issue of The Trident described the native limestone, Italian renaissance-style house in detail. It featured a red tile roof and beautiful arches gracing the east and west porches. Three deltas were included on each of the copper drainpipes while the stone Tri Delta crest guarded the heavily paneled front door. Inside the house was a drawing room and crested fireplace, which is a copy of the one in the Palazzo Davanzati in Italy. There were also two Italian hand-carved, high-backed chairs that stood on either side of the fireplace. These came to be known as our beloved Senior Chairs. The less formal living room included the radio and lounge furniture, along with throw rugs that were easy to roll up when the girls wanted to dance. room featuring ping-pong and checker tables, the laundry with stationary tubs, ironing boards, and the food storage closet with two fresh fruit bins. The library that was later converted to enlarge the dining room was entirely paneled in walnut and was accessed from the drawing room. The dining room featured crystal chandeliers and linen drapes. The main floor also included the housemother's living quarters, a guest room with chintz drapes, and a large kitchen and butler's pantry. The second floor was highlighted by the lounge at the top of the grand staircase, which was later known as the pledge lounge, featuring a fireplace and oriental rugs. Sixteen study rooms were individualized by the tastes of the various girls. Some of them looked more like bedrooms while others looked like studios. The sleeping porch comfortably fit 28 girls. The basement provided the men's restroom, trunk rooms and baggage hangars, and the chapter room, which featured cream walls and wine-colored velvet drapes and cushions, two large davenports, and a delta2 shaped stage. The lower level also had a recreation The Chapter House was designed by Paul Weigel of the architecture department at KSU with design, financial advising, and landscaping services provided by a host of local alumnae and contractors. The history of life at 1834 Laramie began with a beautiful start. The Theta Iota Chapter House at 1834 Laramie Street in 1932.
