Lyre Notes 6 Chapter Boasts Strong Sisterhood and Academics, Greek Week Successes and a New House Director T he fall semester is well underway and we are proud of our many achievements. Alpha Nu Ranks Fifth in Grades The women of Alpha Nu achieved a 3.376 chapter GPA, which ranked them 5th out of 15 sororities in grades for the spring 2013 semester. We celebrated our success with a Cold Stone Creamery ice cream social. To help us sustain academic excellence, we are implementing a new academic program created specifically for new members by VP Intellectual Development Poonam Sheevam '11. Lifetime members will continue to follow the individualized program that began in spring 2013. Our goal is to rank among the top three sororities in grades. Spring Greek Week and Fall Homecoming Fun Alpha Chi loved working with the men of Sigma Nu and FarmHouse for a "Myths and Legends" themed Greek Week. Our myth was Davy Jones Locker and we won a first-place prize for our pirate-themed blood donation booth and received second place in service. Abbey Tingle '12 made it to "in-between acts" finals for her acoustic rendition of the popular song "Thrift Shop." This semester, Alpha Chi Omega is paired with the men of Phi Kappa Theta for a "Great American Cities" themed Homecoming on October 26. AN Welcomes New House Director In August, the chapter welcomed a new house director, Nicole Wei. She's already won us over with her enthusiasm, great ideas and interest in healthy eating and fitness. Sisterhood Activities Help Us Bond We did not waste any time getting to know our fabulous new member class with an orientation retreat on August 24, complete with "getting to know you" games and other fun activities. On October 12, we held another sisterhood retreat following initiation the night before. Members are also looking forward to socializing with each other and their dates at our annual Hayride at the beginning of November.
