Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Missouri • Fall 2013 Landscaping around the new deck was completed in early September. Elegant new living room and French doors leading to the new deck. Members and Alumnae Impressed with Renovations and New Deck Please Help Meet Our $500,000 Fundraising Goal J aw dropping! That is the only way we can describe the reactions by alumnae and collegians to the renovation of the first floor and lower level of the chapter house. Please look on page 4 of this newsletter for quotes from collegiate members and on page 5 for photos of alumnae who attended the August 10 ribboncutting and rededication ceremony for proof! Carpeting on the new spiral stairway adds elegance to the chapter house. The new space and updated décor have changed the game for Alpha Chi at Mizzou. Recruitment statistics document that the renovated house was a factor in how potential members viewed Alpha Chi—ranking Alpha Chi much higher than in previous years. Members were confident and proud to show their home away from home. The collegians tell us they are spending a greater amount of time at the chapter house studying and hanging out. More time at the chapter house deepens the bond of sisterhood and increases retention. This is what we wanted to happen. Show Your Support with a Donation It is gratifying to see how the renovation has enhanced the Alpha Chi experience at Mizzou. And, with the completion of the fire sprinkler system installation, we are assured of the safety of our members. While we have achieved many of the goals we outlined for the renovation, one goal we have not yet met is our fundraising goal. Many of our alumnae have been extraordinarily generous but we are $50,000 short of our $500,000 goal for this phase of the renovation. About 13 percent of our alumnae (252 women) have contributed almost 90 percent of the needed funds. Typical sorority fundraising campaigns have a participation rate of 20-25 percent. Just 50 more donors pledging $1,000 each or 100 more pledging $500 each would help us reach our goal. The second and third floors desperately need renovating. Any money raised over $500,000 will be used to buy new bedroom furniture, refinish floors, update bathrooms and freshen the décor. All Gifts of Any Size Make a Difference If you already have made a donation, we thank you very much. If you haven't, we urge you to please consider a gift. While we would love a leadership level gift, donations of any size make a difference. Pledges can be managed over a five-year period, making it more feasible to contribute. Every donation helps. We hope that many of you will visit the chapter house and see the remarkable transformation. You'll love it! Loyally, Campaign Chairmen Deirdre Hirner '72 Lou Ann Pfeifer Wilcox '75
