clarity. "We wanted a more relatable concert series. I still
remember the day I discussed it with one of our most committed fans, a little old lady from New York City. She said
she knew exactly what I was talking about, but there was
no way it could be done. It had always been a blue haired
concert series and always would be."
But Fleishman wouldn't take no for an answer. He made
a call the next day, a call that changed the future of the
concert series forever. "I got on the phone with the William Morris Agency the next morning," said Fleishman. "I
booked The Letterman, a vocal pop trio. Their performance
caused us to change everything. Since then, we've grown
and grown."
In the beginning, the concerts were booked solely from
Columbia Artists, New York. The shows featured mostly
classical artists. Today, the concert series books from over
10 international artist agencies. These include pop, country
and even rock artists. The series has also featured popular
Broadway shows in the past few years (like a stage shattering production of Hairspray). "Fayetteville's Community
Concerts are well known," said Fleishman. "Some of the big
names we've featured include Kenny Rogers, Michael Bolton and Olivia Newton-John." Fleishman paused to smile.
"We'd love to bring her back. And not to forget The Sticks or
