Huff took a short break to decompress after the World Series, then wasted little time accomplishing his offseason plan: re-signing with the Giants. Huff is staying put with San Francisco just as he’d hoped, agreeing to a $22 million, two- year contract with the World Series champions Tuesday. He receives $10 million in each of the next two seasons, and the Giants have a $10 million club option for 2013 with a $2 mil- lion buyout. ‘‘There was a big interest out there. But in the end, it wasn’t going to take much to come back here for me,’’ Huff said at AT&T Park. ‘‘Some other team would have had to blow me away with like a four-year deal or something and a lot, a lot of dough to stay away from here.’’ The Giants matched a simi- larly structured offer from another club — knowing full well Huff wanted to stay. ‘‘We paid the piper, and you can’t look back,’’ general man- ager Brian Sabean said during a conference call. ‘‘He was obvi- ously underpaid for what he did Berrendos having strong season for us last year. ... He certainly did his part and received a just reward for it.’’ Later Tuesday, the Giants offered infielder Juan Uribe salary arbitration. Players offered arbitration have until next Tuesday to accept. Uribe batted .248 with 24 homers and See HUFF, page 2B Around Tehama Berrendos 2 Ball Competition A new event for basketball lovers of all ages is coming to Red Bluff on Saturday, Dec. 4. Berrendos Middle School will be hosting a 2 Ball Com- petition. The price is $5 per competitor. This basketball skills game is played by a two-person team. It takes place on a half-court marked with specific shooting spots that award a different number of points based on each shot's distance from the hoop and level of difficulty. Each two-player team has one minute to score as many bas- kets and accumulate as many points as possible from any of the six shooting spots. Teams with the most points in each age division will be awarded prizes. Competition will be broken up for boys and girls in the following age groups: 8-9, 10-11, 12-14, 30-38 and 38 and- older. Proceeds will benefit Berrendos basketball and program prizes will be awarded to the highest scores. For entry forms visit: www.bms-aesd-ca.schoolloop.com/2ball. Prizes will include medals, basketballs, t-shirts and tick- ets to the Holiday Classic and Shasta College basketball games. First and second place winners in each division will win prizes. A snack bar will be available. Chico State baseball camp Chico State is proud to once again present the Annual Wildcat Baseball Holiday Camp from Dec. 20-22. Under the direction of Chico State head baseball coach Dave Taylor, campers will experience three days of intense learning and fun competition.
