Wednesday, October 23, 2013 – Daily News 3A Community people&events Drug take back Korean Beef & Vegetable Bowls day Saturday The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold a nationwide prescription drug take-back day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the following locations Red Bluff Community Center, 1500 S. Jackson St. Tehama County Sheriff's Office, 22840 Antelope Blvd. Corning Police Department, 774 Third St. Dispose of expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs and other medications. The program is anonymous and no identification is required nor will it be asked for. The program is free to participants. Prescription and over the counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets and capsules are accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original containers. Intra-venous solutions, injectables and needles and illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not part of this initiative and will not be accepted. For needle disposal sites information, call Tehama County Sanitary Landfill Agency at 528-1103. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is coordinating with state and local law enforcement agencies nationwide to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our medicine cabinets. Corning Police Department, Red Bluff Police Department, The Tehama County Sheriff Office, Tehama County Health Services Agency and Tehama County Landfill are partnering in this effort. The National Take-Back Initiative Day provides an opportunity for the public to dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused medications. These drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal use and pose an unacceptable risk to public health and safety. For questions regarding this program, call Capt. Forty saxaphones in one band at Orpheum tonight How beautiful the wailings of the saxophones can be when they are perfectly attuned, will be demonstrated tonight at the Orpheum Theater when the Julian Eltinge and Tom Brown Black and White Revue of 1924 opens. — Oct. 23, 1923 DAILY NEWS RED BLUFF TEHAMA COUNTY Korean Beef & Vegetable Bowls was a recipe in the 2013 National Beef Cook-Off. 1 beef flank steak ( about 1 pound ) 1 cup uncooked rice 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt 4 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, divided 1 package (16 ounces) frozen broccoli stir-fry vegetable mix 1 cup Korean barbecue sauce marinade 1. Prepare rice according to package directions. Set aside; keep warm. 2. Meanwhile, cut beef steak lengthwise in half, then crosswise diagonally into 1/4 inch thick strips, season steak with garlic salt. 3. Heat 1 teaspoon sesame oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add half of beef, fry 1 to 2 minutes or until outside surface of beef is no longer pink. Remove from skillet. Repeat with 1 teaspoon sesame oil and remaining beef. Serve in bowls. Total recipe time: 25 minutes. Makes 4 servings. Bail was $160,000. • Gilberto Galeana, 42, Modesto was arrested at Gyle Road at Interstate 5 for felony selling marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. Bail was $100,000. • Belinda Kaye Juarez also known by the names Joaquin, Bell, Lopez and Kaye, 49, Gerber was arrested on outstanding charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanors of driving on a suspended license. Bail was $52,000. • Rogelio Eduardo Mora, 29, Corning was arrested on outstanding charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of concentrated cannabis, three counts of failure to appear, two counts of transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a concealed firearm and misdemeanors of possession of a smoking device and failure to appear. Bail was $440,000. Animals • A Vestal Avenue resident reported finding SECRET WITNESS 529-1268 A program of Tehama County Neighborhood Watch Program, Inc. Opal Mendenhall rocks on his back porch that he believed had been thrown at his dogs. Burglary • A vehicle on Lindauer Road was reportedly burglarized. Fire • There was a report of some sort of campfire occurring in the living room of a 5th Avenue residence. Officers confirmed there was a fire of some sort. The home owner was advised to put out the fire. She complied, but was not cooperative. Found • A piece of a gun barrel was dropped off at the Corning Police Department Monday. It had been found in the Richfield area. • A woman reported her wallet had been taken from her vehicle that was parked at the Corning Dollar Store. The woman later called back after she found the wallet underneath the back seat of her vehicle. And I look forward to your business!! Theft • A resident on the 19000 block of McCann Road reported someone had taken items from her unlocked vehicle as well as from a neighbor's. The neighbor told her he located some of the property in a vehicle parked across the street. As it turned out that vehicle was reported stolen out of Anderson. CHP handled the recovery of property. • A resident on Kleat Place reported the theft of a check from her checkbook that was cashed for $800. • Four boxes of clothes were reported stolen from a curb on Prune Street. The clothes were left over from a yard sale and were going to be donated to a church. • Someone reportedly removed a sure flow injection pump and around 20 feet of 3-inch rubber hoses from an almond orchard near 3rd and Walch avenues. • A pair of trailer hitches were reported stolen on the 19000 block of McCann Road.
