Lisa Hansen overcomes challenges and finds success By JULIE ZEEB Special the the Daily News A part of the Red Bluff community since she helped her boss open a local Express Employment Professionals office in 1997, Lisa Hansen now owns the business. An active member of the community, between the hats she wears in the Red BluffTehama County Chamber of Commerce where she is past chair, Red Bluff Kiwanis, where she is president-elect, and the Tehama County Employer Advisory Council, Hansen is no stranger to hard work or having to overcome. Becoming a mother in her late teens caused her to have to grow up quickly, but it also has shaped who she has become, Hansen said. "I had to grow up quickly, but it also helped me as well," Hansen said. "Everyone is dealt negative things in their lives. It's the path that you choose to take that will help you come out on top." Hansen is also a breast cancer survivor who found out she had the disease six days after her 40th birthday, she said. "They say you should start to have mammograms after 40, but I know so many who are younger who have had cancer," Hansen said. "It's so important to go in. I put it off for six months and I could have saved myself surgery and chemo." As fate would have it, the day she walked into Express Employment Professionals looking for part-time work while she was in college was the day the company discovered it was in need of a secretary. Hansen walked away with a job. It has led 19-and-a-half years later to a great career, she said. "I finished school, but I couldn't leave," Hansen said. "I wanted to give them my loyalty. I'm so glad I ended up staying." Hansen worked hard, fighting to get promoted and it paid off, leading to the opportunity to purchase the business seven years ago, she said.
