Parents and Alumni Attend Cocktail Party More Than $2,000 Raised for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society he fraternity hosted more than 200 alumni and parents at our annual parents and alumni cocktail party the weekend of April 26-27. Friday night, the chapter opened its doors and held a meet-and-greet at the fraternity house. The event was a great opportunity for parents, alumni, and guests to experience the house—many of whom had never set foot in it before. The event Saturday night was held at The Coop and was a success. Guests were treated to a fully stocked bar, as well as food provided by our house director and in-house chef—Greg Wasiluk. Musical entertainment was provided by The Blue Dogs and just about everyone in attendance took a turn on the dance floor. T Delta Chapter Alumni House Corporation P.O. Thank you to everyone who donated an item for the auction, as well as those who submitted bids throughout the evening. Without your support, the annual event would not have been as big of a success. Chapter awards were also announced at the cocktail party Saturday night. Welcome, New Members If you did not receive an invitation this year, please contact Alumni Relations Chairman Sam Salvato '10, ∆ 1684, so we can update your contact information and get you on the list for the 2014 event. Nick Wyatt Irmo, S.C. odd Ellis '89 was the quarterback of the University of South Carolina football team from 1985 to 1989. While being part of the football team gave him a sense of camaraderie, he was looking for something more. He wanted to be a part of a brotherhood, and he found that in Sigma Nu. "At that time, I was interested in getting in a group and meeting more diverse folks," he said. "I played football at South Carolina and had great relationships with my teammates, but we knew we would enjoy meeting people in the fraternities, so there were about four of us who decided to join Sigma Nu." T Being part of the football team and the starting quarterback for four years took up a lot of Todd's time, but it also made him appreciate his fraternity experience and the time he was able to spend with his brothers. While some brothers might recall social events, Todd's favorite Delta memories are of spending time with brothers in the quad on early Saturday mornings to do work on the house. "That's what fraternity is all about," he said. "It's not the big time parties; it's the time you are just laughing with your buddies." In 1995, Todd graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law and became a member of the bar in North Carolina and South Carolina where he is a trial lawyer and represents small businesses and individuals. Todd says that his involvement with Delta Theta helped give him the confidence to apply to law school. "It helped me build relationships around the state," he said. "I went to high school in North Carolina and I didn't know many people outside my town. Being in Sigma Nu helped to build those state-wide connections." In college, Todd was a four-year letterman, setting 26 school records and three NCAA records while being selected as co-captain in 1989 and earning the team's most valuable player award three of his four years on the team. After college, Todd played for the Denver Broncos and in the World League of American Football before returning to Columbia. Todd has stayed involved with the community and with the University of South Carolina. He has a voice that many brothers and University of South Carolina fans might recognize—he is the announcer for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Todd and his wife, Cissy, live in Irmo. They have a daughter, Logan (17), and twin sons, Blake and Graham (15). Todd believes that his sons are "really good candidates" to join Sigma Nu when they go to college.
