The Katydid Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Alabama - Fall 2013 • 99th Edition Bid Day 2013 Zeta Thrives at The University of Alabama Undergraduates Recognized for Continued Commitment to Academics W e are excited to present the 2013 fall edition of The Katydid! This edition highlights a small portion of our chapter's activities and achievements this past year through early fall. The year has flown by, as we have been busy making memories through involvement in KD, on campus and within the community. Academics continue to be one of our main goals as a sorority. We currently have a 3.36 GPA and keep moving forward in Panhellenic Academic Ranking. We are so proud of all the efforts and accomplishments of our girls! Julia Adams '10, our Academic Excellence Chairman, has put a strong emphasis on academics and made many improvements to our program. We added an Academic Excellence Council consisting of representatives from each pledge class who hold themselves to high academic standards. We, as a council, make an effort to monitor each member's academic standing and progress each semester, and properly reward excellence in the classroom. Our chapter has made a difference in the lives of members of the community through our philanthropic endeavors. Our annual Shamrock Run benefiting Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) was a huge success; we were able to raise $33,640! As VP-Community Service, Anna Price Olson '10 strived to continue KD's positive impact on CAPS. We also had a blast working with our local Girl Scouts and Crossing Points School. This excitement within Zeta has overflowed into our success on campus as we continue to stay on top in Alabama's Greek community. Sisters have stepped out on campus and hold highly esteemed positions within the SGA, Panhellenic, Capstone Men and Women, and many more. Additionally, our academic achievement is evident through KD representation in every campus-wide honor society. It is such an honor that we were awarded Most Outstanding Scholarship by Greek Affairs, recognizing significant improvements to our academic programming.  I hope you enjoy seeing the highlights of the exciting things happening now in our chapter! As president of this growing organization, I can say with pride that being a member of Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta is a rewarding and life-changing experience. The opportunities that I have had and the support surrounding me have made me a better person and a better sister in Kappa Delta! Thank you so much for supporting our chapter! Love in AOT, Isabella Wesley '10 President
