VOLLEYBALL Paradise 25 25 25 Red Bluff 20 18 17 By RICHGREENE DN Sports Editor The energy from the Senior Night festivities didn’t transfer over to the match, Tuesday, as the visiting Par- adise Bobcats swept Red Bluff in three games and clinched the Eastern Athletic League — South title. Red Bluff seniors Stevie Boone, Marissa Clawson and Aubrey Lair were honored before the game and Lair sang the national anthem with teammate Kalynne Schoelen. But while Lair and Schoelen nailed the song the Lady Spartans came out flat, racking up errors and having no answer for Paradise’s height. The win gave Paradise a two-game lead over Red Bluff in the EAL — South with just one match to go. The Lady Spartans (17-22, 7-5) travel to Chico, Thursday then will most likely draw Pleasant Valley in the first round of the Division-II play- offs. Red Bluff battled with Paradise in Game 1, with the score tied as late as 19-19. A trio of hitting errors would cost the Spartans down the stretch and 6- footer Caitlyn Robbins led Paradise at the net to a 25-20 win. Paradise steadily pulled away in the second game behind the play of outside hitter Lindsay Quigley and cruised to a 25-18 win. The Lady Spartans were never in the third game as Paradise burst out to a 6-0 lead with everything going their way, highlighted by a diving dig by Kelsea Bengson floating over the net and landing for a Bobcats’ point. Paradise finished the sweep with a 25-17 win. Red Bluff was led by 15 digs and nine kills from Riley Kittle. Kaitlann Weber had 21 assists. Clawson had three kills and eight digs on Senior Night. Boone picked up two kills and a block solo and Lair had a pair of digs.
