Commitments are still needed from the rest of our alumni to achieve our $1 million goal. All donors contributing a minimum of $2,500 to the campaign, over a five-year period, will be recognized on a plaque prominently displayed in the Chapter house. I feel my involvement in the fraternity helped me embrace this mindset. I strongly encourage all of our undergraduates to push themselves and get involved in some activities, either with the fraternity or with the University. You will be amazed at the lessons you learn." When asked about The Campaign for Delta Chi, Chris remembers Stephen Kennamer '77, an alumnus who helped him during his time as an undergraduate. "Stephen was our alumni advisor and he always provided sound advice to the undergraduate Chapter. He was an important part of my Delta Chi experience," he said. "I supported the capital initiative because my fraternity experience was beneficial to me and I feel it is important to give others the chance to have same great opportunity I had." Inspired by a conversation with Jeff Threlkeld '79, Chris sees an opportunity for alumni to help the Chapter that gave them so much. "I believe the upgrades in the house and facilities will help keep Alabama Chapter competitive and motivate the active members. Our contributions will give an overall sense of pride and ownership to the group. To our alumni I would say to get involved; everyone can contribute something. It will make a difference to the campaign." Chris encourages his brothers to pick up the phone and reconnect with each other. "It is tough to stay in touch, but it is worth it. You can pick up right where you left off with your classmates. You know these guys so well, making it easy to reconnect," he said. "I was fortunate enough to hike the Grand Canyon with Kirk Lakeman '82 and Ron Hartmann '81 recently. We have remained good friends and stayed in contact over the years." Summing up his experience, Chris says, "Delta Chi was a welcoming and unassuming place on a campus that offered the opportunity to be a part of a special brotherhood and grow personally. My brothers at Delta Chi afforded me the room to discover who I was and grow as a friend, and for that I thank them. Now is the time for us to provide our current and future members with that same brotherhood." Chris resides in Westport, Connecticut. You can reach him at ccullen@lagos.com. "Our contributions will give an overall sense of pride and ownership to the group. To our alumni I would say to get involved; everyone can contribute something. It will make a difference to the campaign."
