Vehicle use map info sought YREKA – The Klamath National Forest is soliciting comments on improving its Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) as part of the annual MVUM review cycle. "The KNF maps became available in early January this year," said Forest Supervisor, Patty Grantham. "Our emphasis in 2013 has been to get the word out on the availability of the maps showing where motorized uses, and types of uses, can occur. As part of our continuing Motorized Travel Management process, we will review the maps annually and consider needed changes. Public comment is very important to identify suggested changes. Comments have been collected since implementation of the maps. Since the update is an on-going, annual process, there is no hard deadline to submit comments. Comments received prior to Oct. 31, 2013, will be most helpful in considering changes to include in the 2014 maps. "I am interested in receiving any and all comments regarding our maps," noted Grantham. "I am sure folks who've used the maps these past nine months have found errors on them, and we want to clean those up. In talking to various groups and individuals since the maps came out, I also know there are ideas on routes that should be added or changed and also on routes that should be deleted. We want to hear about those ideas." Comments may be submitted in a variety of ways. You may leave a message with your comment on the Travel Management Information Line at 530-841-4597. Hard copy comment forms are available at all Klamath National Forest offices and also on the web at http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5423782.pdf. You may also submit your comments directly into the travel management comment database by going to https://cara.ecosystem-management.org/Public/CommentInput?project=42227. Individual letters or emails are also welcome and may be submitted to the Klamath National Forest, 1711 S. Dear Annie: ''Phone Me,'' the 28-year-old who did not find out about her high school reunion because she isn't on social media, needs to be proactive. Don't blame others because you didn't seek out the information. If you know it is the 10th year of your graduation, contact the school or ex-classmates and find out whether anything is planned. I have been on every reunion committee since I graduated in 1979. We do the best we can to contact people. However, it gets expensive sending out invitations by regular mail. Word of mouth and seeking out the information is key. So perhaps in anticipation of the next reunion, ''Phone Me'' could make the effort to find out instead of being ''left out.'' — Mary in Ventura, Calif.
