O������ 20, 2010 Halloween Caravan schedule QUARTZSITE- Scholars’ Academy buses will pick up students in grades k-3 on Oct. 29th at 12 pm that have a signed permission slip. Students will be transported to Town Hall to watch a video and give them time to change into their costumes. Please feel free to join your children there to help them get ready or to join them on the caravan. At 1:00 pm a second scholars bus will pick up students in grades 4-8 that have a signed permission slip and would like to participate in the cara- van. This bus will also go to Town Hall giving these children time to put their costumes on. At 2:00pm buses will de- part Town Hall to go to JR’s RV Park. This will serve not only as the first stop on the caravan but will also give other businesses and organizations that are not caravan stops an opportunity to hand out candy to the kids. From there the buses will make their annual trek through town ending at Town Hall at approximately 5:30. Children will not be allowed to par- ticipate without a signed permission slip. (See Below). Permission slips are also available at The Quartzsite Business Chamber, Main Street Laundromat and at the Children’s Library. For more infor- mation, contact Monica Timberlake at 928-916-4120. Mrs. Dena Scott Mrs. Scott was born in Blythe, Cali- fornia, and she has lived in Quartz- site, Arizona for 13 years. She enjoys staying in Quartzsite during the school year but escapes the heat of the sum- mer for a cooler climate in Colorado. Her favorite color is black, and her fa- vorite animals are Tortoises. She is a big fan of the Twilight Saga, which has tightened its grip on so many Ameri- cans. Among her hobbies are reading and scrapbooking. Her favorite type of music is 80’s Rock. She Graduated from Salome High School in 1987. She attended Northern Arizona University and received her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s in Education and Special Education from Grand Canyon University. She said that she decided to become a teacher because when she was in Primary school she would al- ways help her peers with their school- ���.D�����M��������.��� P��� 19 Submitted by Scholars’ Academy Journalism Class The Scholars Academy is selling Jackets, Hoodies and T- shirts. T-Shirts are also available at Home Football games at the Quartzsite town park. You can buy shirts when dropping off your students and also after school. work, so in 8th grade she decided that she wanted to be a teacher. She enjoys teaching, and she began her career in Flagstaff, Arizona. She taught at Salome Elementary for a number of years and then went to Margret White Elementary School in Blythe, Cali- fornia, for nine years. She has been teaching at The Scholars’ Academy for five years. She has been teaching for Twenty Years. She says that her fa- vorite class to teach is Photoshop and Yearbook. She finds the Junior High level to be the most difficult to teach, but she manages. She plans on finish- ing her career here at Scholars’. She finds favor with The Academy because of the teacher-student interaction, and one on one time the students here ex- perience. Her favorite food is Burritos, and when asked to reveal her favorite student, she said that her favorite stu- dent is every one that graduates. HOMECOMING WEEK! BON FIRE, THURS.
