Opal McNaughton resumes study in high school here Determined that a couple years' delay shall not prevent her obtaining an education with a college course as the goal, Miss Opal McNaughton, sole survivor of the Proberta crossing disaster, has resumed her studies in the freshmen's class of the Red Bluff high school. — Sept. 17, 1923 wanted a shop class, but my son thrives in them and his esteem has been resurrected. Many students who take shop and later become certified in their craft go on to great careers at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional college. Solid jobs with benefits and retirement. Without shop classes, many students would never be exposed to opportunities like welding, wood working, auto shop, metal works and more. They might otherwise ended up fallen through educational cracks not knowing that there are real world options for employment doing creative and important jobs that they love. Scott Hickson matters because he opens doors to boys and girls to be creative, responsible and productive. He fosters their belief that they can make something beautiful and unique and that what they are doing has real world application for their career path. He offers hope to kids who don't thrive in english and math. Maybe they can't calculate complicated problems, but they sure can graph a plan for a cabinet and measure twice and cut once. Be like Scott. Offer opportunities for kids to get excited about school. Be someone who represents an alternative to the status quo. Someone who motivates others to try out alternative ways to learn. Thank you for making school exciting and meaningful to my son. Police reports arrested Sunday at Benson and Big Pine on an outstanding felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
