The 2008 BRAC Regional Task Force report indicated the need for a new hotel and conference center. With increases in population, a first-class facility is in demand The hotel will assist Fayetteville in competing with larger markets in the state, as well as offering unique opportunities to partner with the Crown Center and other hotels and businesses in the area to attract more business, corporate, leisure and government travel. The conference facility will house 18,000 square feet of meeting space, banquets for 500 people and meetings for 1,000 people. Its location near Skibo Road is convenient to restaurants and shopping. Sign Up For Public Forums Public forums are designed to invite citizen input and discussion and are held on the first meeting of every month at City Council meetings. Each speaker has up to two minutes to speak. Trucks and Chopper Make Fall Safety Day Fun Big red fire trucks and a helicopter are just two reasons citizens should bring children out to the annual Fall Safety Day Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marketfair Mall. The event is sponsored by the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Management and Fayetteville Police departments. Children can also enjoy birthday cake with Sparky the Fire Dog, music will keep participants lively and giveaways will be held. The Fayetteville Fire Department will have fire engines, aerial trucks, a Haz-Mat/rescue truck and an antique fire truck on display. The Fayetteville Police Department will be on hand with K-9 Units, McGruff the Crime Dog and a booze buggy. Other agencies in attendance will be the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, Cape Fear Valley EMS & Lifelink, Cumberland County Fire Departments, the North Carolina Forestry Service, the North Carolina Highway Patrol and representatives from Ft.
