The Gua da lu Pano committee of Sacred Heart Church in Red Bluff invites the public to attend the bicentennial cel- ebration of Mexican Independence Day and Fiestas Patrias Celebration at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 2355 Monroe St. Father Francisco Leon will crown the Queen and Princesses and Renovacion VI Group will play for the dance. Mexican food will be served with sodas and beer. Master of Ceremonies will be Eusebio Zambrano Jr. of Red Bluff. Tickets are $15 per couple or $10 per person at the door. Children 12 and younger are free. Booster yard sale Saturday Mercy High School Sports Booster Club will hold a multi-family yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the High School, 233 Riverside Way. The grants were provided upon the recommendation of the local Distribution Center after its review of the needs in Red Bluff. Antelope’s grant will provide funds to help replace computers in the library. PATH’s grant will help with the maintenance of the Sale House transitional home for women and children. PAL’s grant will help with a bowling program, martial arts program and various sport activities. Lady’s luncheon Wilcox Oaks Ladies will hold its first luncheon of the fall season on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Cheryl Bonham and Jessie Woods of the Gold Exchange on Walnut Street in Red Bluff will present the program on care and cleaning of jewelry. Rhonda Johnson and her comittee are planning the luncheon. All members of Wilcox Oaks, non- golfers and golfers, are invited to attend. A social time will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Reservations should be made by Friday, Sept. 10, by calling the clubhouse at 527-6680. RBUHS reunion picnic The RBUHS Class of 1963 will hold its annual class picnic on Sat., Oct. 2, beginning at 11am. This year we are inviting alumni from the 1950s and 1960s. We just supply the location, and you supply your food, drink and conversation. Come for 10 minutes or spend the whole day. Yes, you have one last chance to compete in the Fair—Floriculture. Entry deadline for Floriculture is 5 pm Friday Sept. 17. Now, what to enter? Your skill with Container Plants can be shown in Division 173 where there are 25 Classes in which to compete. Enter your Asparagus fern, fancy-leafed Bego- nia, prickly Cactus or other Flower- ing or Foliage plant. There are also classes for geraniums, succulents and Rare or Unusual plants. Divi- sion 174 is for Cut Branches. Cer- tainly your garden has trees; cut a 20 inch branch and bring it to the Fair! Entries must be placed in the Floriculture Building Wednesday, Sept. 22 between 10 am and 7 pm. Have fun setting a table and arranging flowers too. Try entering in Table Settings Division 175. There are 7 classes for 4 skill lev- els. Beginners compete with Beginners in creating a single table setting, with a flower arrangement, for "Farm House Chic" and "Holi- for 90 Years" or "Old & Beauti- ful", or First Impression. What can your imagination come up with? In Division 178 there are 3 classes for Miniature Designs— such a challenge! Cut Flowers are shown in Divi- day Celebration". Dry Arrangements for Division 172 are a different challenge. Find interesting or unusual looking dry plant material, paint it (or not), and then arrange it for classes like "Midas Touch", "Indian Summer", and "Desert Song". In class 6 enter a Wreath or Other Wall Hanging— featuring plant material of course. Try entering a design for a Shadow Box Division 176—have fun with the Fair Theme "Big Cheers for 90 Years", "Aquatic Adventure", or "With a Spanish Flair". For Flower Arrangements Divi- sion 177 you have the choice of using any plant material you wish. There are 11 classes for 4 skill lev- els. Enter a design for "Big Cheers sion 179. There are 19 classes for everything including your old- fashioned Cosmos to your newest hybrid Lily. For the Saturday Show enter All Fresh Arrangements in Division 181 with classes like "Roadside Ramble", "Along the Waterfront", "Touch of Tropics". Let your imagination soar! Division 183 for Cut Flowers includes classes for roses, salvia, sunflowers, and zinnias. All entries for the Saturday Show are to be placed in the Floriculture Building Saturday morning between 7:30 and 9 a.m. The entry fee for each class is $1, but the rewards in self-discov- ery are boundless! Booths will range from jewelry to doll clothes, housewares, home- made candy, baked goods, and handpainted figurines. Food will be on sale by the Blues for the Pool Committee, which is co-hosting the fair with the Red Bluff Community Center Auxiliary. Both are non-profit organizations. Proceeds will benefit the McG- lynn pool and the Community Cen- ter, both operated by the Red Bluff Parks and Recreation Department. Retailer donates $3,000 to 3 groups
