Nov. 2, Sat., Iron Canyon Historical Features Hike (1A, HEC) This is the "Enigma Hike" because there are so many interesting and unusual things to see during the 5mile, 5-hour hike from Hwy 36 East into Iron Canyon of the Sacramento River, north of Red Bluff. We will see numerous natural and historical features on the loop hike, including Iron Canyon, rock fences, old homestead sites, and structures of unknown origin and use. We will hike across moderate terrain with only brief sections of steep ground. However, about 3/4 of the hike will be off-trail on rocky ground with some steep creek crossings, so good balance and sturdy hiking shoes are needed. Meet at the Iron Canyon Trail parking lot east of Red Bluff on Highway 36 at 9 am.
