It was a bitter sweet time. The first 45 days were the hardest with random tears coming from nowhere into the silence that filled the days. After that, we found a groove and the new normal set in. I'm not gonna lie, it helped that she only went as far as Sacramento where we were able to meet often and stay connected. Usually she came home on the weekends or I went there and we met every other Wednesday in Williams for what we called Family Dinner. In between we had Face Time, phone calls and texting. Being close to my child, she let me into her college world, and I had the great fortune to meet and get to know her new friends and to integrate myself into Sac State as the mother of a college athlete. There have been many opportunities to get involved and make her college years even more meaningful. At the end of the year, we transitioned Meaggan from the dorms to an apt. and over the summer we have transformed her barren walls into an apartment well worth coming home to. She even has the added bonus of her dorm roommate and now friend for life, literally living across the street. Meaggan came home for the COMMUNITY CLIPS Corning Class of 1983 reunion It has been 30 yrs for the Corning Union High School Class of 1983, and organizers are busily planning a class reunion.
