16 | The Jewelr y Book T H E H O L I DAY S E A S O N and the final quarter of the year are upon us. It's always such an exciting time, filled with anticipation, lots of work, family, celebrations and, hopefully, lots of joy. Our Fall issue is all about holiday gi-giving and bridal, and we hope these pages give you a little inspiration for both. We're especially excited about our Platinum Bridal Showcase, created in partnership with Platinum Guild International and featuring some of our industry's wonderful designers and manufacturers. Platinum has always held such a special place in bridal, and this section celebrates its beauty, rarity and enduring appeal while offering plenty of inspiration for your bridal customers. And speaking of platinum, I'm thrilled to feature Platinum Born on our cover. eir modern, wearable jewelry feels perfect for this issue—and for a season when we're all thinking about pieces that are meant to be given, worn and enjoyed. ere is so much to discover throughout this issue. Michael Shulman once again brings his unique perspective to Current Obsession and Wearable Prozac, including a wonderful look at designer Leigh Maxwell and the crasmanship, color and individuality behind her jewelry. Danielle Barber takes on the sometimes hilarious and very real experience of holiday jewelry shopping in Dazzle. And we're especially happy to expand Peter Smith's always-popular retail editorial to include his partner in life and business, Sherry Smith, bringing another perspective to the conversations affecting retailers today. Of course, those are only a few of the stories filling these pages. As always, this issue is really about the people, creativity and jewelry that make our industry so special. I always like to end our Fall issue with a little gratitude. I know I've said this before, but I'll happily say it again. We are so fortunate to be part of an industry that gets to share in so many of life's most meaningful moments: engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, milestones, and yes, sometimes the indulgence of a little gi for ourselves. Jewelry marks moments. It carries memories. And very oen, it becomes part of someone's story for generations. ere really aren't many industries that get to be a part of so much happiness. I also want to thank the people who help bring e Jewelry Book to life: our art director, Kara Adanalian, who once again has created a beauti- ful issue; our senior editor, Gail Melikian, who makes everything just right; our contributors Peter and Sherry Smith, Danielle Barber and Eileen McClelland; and our editor, Michael Shulman. ank you all for indulging my every request, sharing your talents and helping us produce something we're so proud of. And, as always, thank you to our advertisers, retailers, designers and readers. Your friendship, loyalty and continued support of e Jewelry Book mean more to me than you know. Here's to a holiday season filled with blessings, celebrations and joy—and to a year ahead filled with hope, happiness and success.
