Alsted and G.E.G. Kuechle create Alstead-Kasten and Co following the sudden passing of Christian Preusser at self-titled jewelry firm. 1936 – William Schwanke, a rival jeweler and great-uncle to Tom Dixon, partnered with C.J. Kasten, son of Charles J. Kasten, to form Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers. 1943 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers provide a beautiful 7-piece hand- wrought silver tea set for the USS Wisconsin for $4,290 to complete the 48-piece set. 1949 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers opens original Whitefish Bay "Residential Store" at 236 E. Silver Spring Drive. 1951 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers becomes an Official Rolex Jeweler. 1957 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers win one of the 23 awards at Diamonds International, a worldwide competition, for a "spray-pin of diamonds." 1958 – William Schwanke's wife, Mercedes took over Schwanke- Kasten Jewelers, making it a progressive woman-owned business for the time. Wisconsin Ave location. 1982 – Malcom Dixon, William and Mercedes Schwanke's nephew, buys the jewelry store. 1984 – Malcom Dixon suddenly passes and his immediate family runs the store. 1989 – omas Dixon takes over. 2002 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers began carrying the iconic Roberto Coin Jewelry line. 2005 – Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers moves to current location, 417 E. Adds Rahaminov and FOPE. 2019 – Charlie Dixon joins full- time as VP of Marketing and Advertising. 2020 – Began construction on upstairs. 2021 – Began carrying IPPOLITA; upstairs construction completed. 2022 – Began carrying Marco Bicego; first floor remodel complete. 2023 – Charlie Dixon named President while Tom remains CEO and Owner.
