INDIANA GAMMA CHAPTER Academically, we set a realistic target to surpass IU's 3.3 male undergraduate median by spring 2026. Our new academic chairman, Luke Blanchet '28, rolled out peer-tutoring circles and mandatory study halls, and early feedback was promising. Campus involvement remained strong. ΣAE Cycling Captain Luke Naas '25 and riders Matthew Naas '27, Lucas Lemme '26, and Rhett Skarvna '26 finished second overall and first among Greek houses in the 2025 Little 500, a result that reflects year-round disciplined training. Meanwhile, more than half of our juniors spent the spring abroad in Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, and Copenhagen, bringing fresh perspectives back to Bloomington. Community service was also a priority this year. Under philanthropy chairman Max Prince '27, brothers planted 66 trees with CanopyBloomington, staffed shifts at Monroe Community Kitchen, and adopted a stretch of SR-45 for biweekly cleanups. We also worked to reengage alumni. The April 13 reunion barbecue drew graduates from the 1960s through 2024, and we plan to make this a standing semester tradition! We also celebrated the graduation of the next era of alumni as our class of 2025 began their next chapter. A big ship turns slowly, but Indiana Gamma is making progress with accountability at the helm and alumni support as the wind in our sails. We appreciate your continued guidance as we carry this momentum into the coming year! Fraternally, Thomas Coates '27, Eminent Archon Back on Track Indiana Gamma Sets Sail for Success A s the brother of a Phi Delt, Scott Pointner '90 went to IU with an interest in Greek life and a willingness to check out several houses. The Sigma Alpha Epsilon brotherhood resonated with him from his first visit, and he proudly stays engaged with the fraternity as General Counsel and Secretary for the ΣAE Foundation. FAITH AND THE FRATERNITY "I truly feel my four years at IU were quintessentially the classic Big Ten college experience of the 1980s," he said. Scott began living in the chapter house on day one of freshman year, and he made lifelong connections with pledge brothers like Curt Keltner '90 and his pledge son Dave Shrader '90. "I loved getting to know the brothers in everyday life." Scott's Catholic faith was strongly influenced by upperclassmen Tony Longi '87 and Chuck Schlegel '87 co-founding Greek Fellowship as a support system for Christian students in the Greek system. He appreciated having people who held him accountable for his faith, and Scott is now finishing his third year of studying to become a deacon in the Joliet Diocese. CAREER VENTURES After earning his bachelor's degree in finance, Scott worked as a financial representative for a small company in Chicago. He met his wife, Dolly, in Los Angeles during a business trip, and Scott relocated to LA to attend Southwestern University School of Law. He and Dolly moved to Scott's hometown of Wheaton, Illinois. Scott joined the law firm Rathje, Woodward, Dyer, and Burt, where he has been a partner since 2002. "Henry Burt is the dad of Foundation Trustee Steve Burt '87, my first college roommate. He was a senior and the EA for Gamma when I was a pledge." ΣAE INVOLVEMENT Scott joined the ΣAE Foundation as the successor to General Counsel Curtis Frasier, Arizona State '77, who left big shoes to fill. Every day as General Counsel is different, and Scott handles contracts, researches opportunities, and answers legal questions while relying on Foundation Board members for support and guidance. "Curtis knew the role goes well beyond just handling legal issues that present themselves to the Foundation. He taught me the Foundation needs me to be one of the leaders who is present in a proactive way to survey the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead and to help navigate the Foundation to the opportunities and through the challenges." For today's ΣAE collegians, Scott urges them to bond as a single unit with their pledge brothers and actives, building relationships to last beyond college. He also encourages them to think critically about their actions and not make poor decisions through the allure of partying. "Be the young man that others look up to as someone who is always asking himself, 'What is the right thing to do?' in every situation. I wish I had done that more when I was in college." Scott and Dolly are celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary this summer, and they have two daughters, a son- in-law, and a young granddaughter. In his spare time, Scott enjoys visiting extended family, hunting, and fishing. You can connect with him at scottpointner@gmail.com. "The values and wisdom of the True Gentleman drew me in to being an ΣAE in the first place." Guided by ∑AE Values Scott Pointner '90 on Fraternity and Law Experiences (Continued from page 1) Brothers spend their Saturday with CanopyBloomington, planting 66 trees across the community in less than three hours.
