| | | | | Carmine's Convoy cont. | | | | | The Event: The event was actually an entire week dedicated to philanthropy, which began by partnering with the three Rose sororities with various fun events on campus to raise money. The week culminated with Car- mine's Convoy, which was a 66-mile trek by Gamma Gamma members down US-40 (with proper safety pre- cautions) from the Rose campus to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, where the Rook's Resources charity began working with NICU families. The walk took place over a two-day period on March 14 and 15, covering 43 miles and 14 hours the first day with an overnight stay at Freije & Freije Auctioneering Barn. The second day was the final 23 miles that ended at the hospital where we presented Brother Thomas Reives and his family with a $42,000 check for Rook's Resources. This level of financial impact would not have been possible without our 7 corporate spon- sors: Kovey Family Fund, Country Critter Veteri- nary Clinic, Faulkenberg Properties, Freije & Freije Auctioneers, A.G. Spanos Company, Fraberg's Foods, Accuburn, and Difiniti. Additionally, I want to thank the many parents, alumni and friends who contributed financially to the Silent Auction, Gam- ing Marathon and Carmine's Convoy. And I want to particularly thank Bill Daugherty, '87, for his men- torship and guidance and experience in charitable fundraising that was instrumental in pulling this to- gether. The Impact: The $42,000 (now actually $44,000 with do- nations that came in after the walk) has provided the financial resources for Rook's Resources to significant- ly increase the books, meals, and other items they provide traumatized families with infants in the Riley NICU and other children's hospitals. But they also are now able to realistically consider expanding this im- pactful program to other hospitals with a future goal of providing this support to all NICU's throughout the US. The Future: Our goal going forward is to build on this signature event and reach at least $60,000 in 2026 by add- ing additional corporate sponsors and involve more alumni before, during and after the event. Our revitalized philanthropic program represents a core value that defines our brotherhood. By increasing our charitable im- pact from $900 to over $44,000 in a single year, we've demonstrated what our chapter can accomplish when we unite behind a meaningful cause. Carmine's Convoy has not only strengthened our ties within the Rose-Hulman community but has also created lasting relationships with corporate partners and the families we've helped. As we look to the future, we remain committed to grow- ing this legacy of service and brotherhood that makes our Gamma Gamma chapter truly exceptional. Thank you again to all the alumni whose continued support makes these achievements possible. This event also received a lot of attention from ATO National and Rose-Hulman and was a featured article on the Rose-Hulman web- site.
