Maci Miles Highland, Ill. Welcome, New Members "I have a grandma with early-onset Alzheimer's, so I appreciated Sigma Kappa's philanthropy work. I want to be part of something that brings awareness to this cause." –Maci Miles '24 "I felt so comfortable with all the members I talked to. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, and I was able to be myself." –Delaney Mills '24 O ver the past semester, Xi has achieved many notable successes. We participated in the 76th annual production of Rock Chalk Revue with Kappa Sigma, led by directors Haley Fredricks '23, Eliza Bellerive '23, and Brynn Bertie '22, who was awarded the Anne Eversole Dedication Award. Audrey Branner '24 also received the Piper Carter Best Female Ensemble Award. In the fall, Xi achieved a GPA of 3.44. We are proud of our members' academic achievements and appreciate the support from our fall 2024 academic officers, VP of Academic Excellence Laney Turner '22 and assistants Sofia Cialdella '23 and Claire Batchelder '22. So far, newly elected VP of Learning and Development Libby Hatton '23 has hosted study parties and study mystic bonds, some of our favorite ways to spend time with sisters while getting work done! In February, Ronni Fiedler '23 and Zoey McBee '23 attended Sigma Kappa's Summit for Collegiate Leadership in Chicago. At Summit, our Xi representatives learned about different pillars of leadership and how to apply them to their roles. They met other chapters' leadership teams to collaborate and enhance their practices, and they were honored to hear from National President Kathleen Brangan Held '91. "Overall, the Summit was a wonderful weekend of learning, fun, and sisterhood," Zoey said. VP of Philanthropy Avery Swanson '23 hosted Philanthropy Week at the end of March, introducing a new awareness opportunity to the SFL community during the week called the ALZ ice bucket challenge (similar to the 2014 viral sensation that supported the ALS Association). Other SFL chapters joined us in raising awareness for Alzheimer's; their chapter presidents had buckets of ice water dumped over their heads and nominated others to do the same. The Purple Bucket picnic, hosted on March 29, was a charcuterie-style picnic at the chapter house that encouraged members to spend time with sisters, raise money, and share what the Alzheimer's Association means to them. At the end of the week, we raised nearly $3,000. Finally, our 2025 governing board set goals to help improve our chapter. These include interacting with other groups and chapters on campus and in the SFL community, maintaining social media that represents our sisterhood and growth, and improving overall member engagement through revamping points, more opportunities for sisterhood, and clarifying our membership expectations as a chapter.
