THANK YOU, LOYAL DONORS We Value Your Support G reg Edelson '87 went through recruitment with friends his freshman year, and they were all drawn to Sigma Chi. The fraternity was a great choice, as he gained early opportunities for responsibility and collaboration, such as serving as recruitment chairman and steward. He has many wonderful memories of his time in Theta Chapter. "As a freshman, I remember having to entertain the brothers at lunch with skits—some of the funniest memories from college." When Greg's sons chose to join Sigma Chi, he hoped they would have a similar experience to what he had and that they would make lifelong friends. When it was time for Drew '18 to decide which fraternity to join, "I found a group of men in Sigma Chi who were academically driven, kind, inclusive, and fun-loving." Sigma Chi allowed him to work toward a common goal with like- minded people from different backgrounds. Jack '21 appreciated Sigma Chi's emphasis on the value of friendship. "Once I became a brother, everyone welcomed me with open arms, and I knew I had made the right choice." Theta Chapter has enabled him to befriend people of different personalities and aptitudes. Like their father, Drew and Jack made great memories in Sigma Chi. Drew enjoyed when alumni would visit the house and point out brothers on the composites, sharing their stories and "where are they now" tales. "My favorite memory from Sigma Chi hands down was when the parents of Brother William Forrey '20 let the entire brotherhood come down to their fishing and beer men's retreat lodge outside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania," Jack recalled. "Forrey's parents were incredible hosts, and it was hilarious to have 30-plus guys bunking in a huge room in this cabin. There was so much positive energy that night, and I distinctly remember thinking that this is what a fraternity is all about." Sharing the Sigma Chi brotherhood has strengthened the Edelson's bond, and they enjoy telling stories of their Sigma Chi days, influencing each other's decision-making, and offering advice and support to each other. As brothers, they've enjoyed activities together such as attending cookouts at the house when Jack was an undergraduate. "Every winter, we would work at a food bank and stay at the house of Bill Sapoch, Dickinson '84 in Montclair, New Jersey. We would hang out with the Princeton guys, the Fairleigh Dickinson guys, and other Sigs in the area," Drew recalled. You can connect with Drew at edelsondrew@ gmail.com, Jack at jack.edelson@gmail.com, and Greg at gedelson@validfill.com. "The College and the fraternity are both big enough to have incredible facilities and opportunities, but they are both small enough that you have to do some work to uphold the institutions. It trains you to be an adult who takes on responsibility in their career and their community, and it teaches that great institutions don't just appear out of thin air—they have to be grown and maintained by people who care." –Greg Edelson '87 The Edelson men, from left: Greg, Julia, Drew, Jack
