Last June, at the 150th Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority Convention, our chapter was awarded the Mary A. Bingham Award. This honor is given to one chapter for excellence in all areas. Psi Chapter also earned the Medallion Public Relations Excellence and Advisory Excellence awards. In addition, we found amazing success with our 2024 philanthropy events! We raised $4,018 at our pickleball Palooza event in the spring semester, $7,787 at our Moonball event in the fall, and $8,905 at our Chili Cook-Off event in the fall. In total, we raised over $20,000 at our philanthropy events last year! This is an amazing accomplishment and shows how much our members pride themselves on giving back to the community. Aside from our own events, members also spent more than 6,000 hours on volunteer service within the Norman and surrounding areas. We are extremely proud and grateful that we have these opportunities and the ability to help others. Outside of Gamma Phi, our members have a strong presence in other OU campus organizations, including OU Dance Marathon, Crimson Club, Big Event, PLC, PCS, Scandals, University Sing, and many others. Kyla Archer '22 currently serves as the executive vice chairman of the logistics committee for OU Dance Marathon. "OUDM is OU's largest student-led philanthropy," Kyla explained. "We work year-round to raise money for the Children's Health Foundation, benefiting the Oklahoma Children's Hospital. All our work leads to an eight-hour event every March!" The event's attendees include the miracle families that benefit from OUDM's efforts, OU students, and community members, who all join the organization in celebrating their hard work. The day ends with a grand reveal of how much OUDM has raised for CHF throughout the year. "It's always fun getting to talk to the kids and hear their stories as we celebrate them!" Kyla said. Her leadership in this role is just one glimpse into the impact our sisters make throughout the OU community. Overall, Gamma Phi has had an outstanding year of accomplishments and triumphs, and we cannot wait to see what the rest of 2025 holds!
