Sigma Phi Epsilon - Missouri Gamma Chapter 310 S Arthur Ashe Blvd Richmond, VA 23220-5706 Address Service Requested BEARTRACKS FROM THE EDITOR T hanks to Russ Wortham '71, who provided photos from old Chapter Scrapbooks for this issue. And also to the brothers who shared their treasured photos (some dating back 60 years) for the cover story. The fact that they still had them is a testament to their valued memories we all share as Mo Gamma brothers. Photos can evoke rich memories of times past. Recognizing this importance, and coming soon to your inbox (included within our eTRACKS banner), will be a link to Chapter Scrapbooks from years past. If you aren't getting our eTRACKS, then you are missing out. If you don't see (in the "From" column) SigEp • Missouri Gamma in your Inbox, check your Spam. If you still can't find them, send us a note and we can help. Your communications team is always trying to improve on what you want to see and read about. Please keep your comments coming, both good and bad, but especially good, as these are the only things we have to reward us for our non-salaried positions! Fraternally yours, Dave Naeger '80 dnaegs@gmail.com Guiding SigEp Forward Through Volunteerism S igEp's courageous leadership in the fraternity world is differentiated by the people we bring together and the powerful experiences we provide. We are proud of our SigEp heritage, and our volunteers are key to this leadership. With over 100 donors and volunteers, the Missouri Gamma AVC is working to support the future of our Chapter. As our SigEp brothers prepare to welcome new members into its brotherhood at MST this fall, MO Gamma volunteers are investing their time and money to provide scholarships, maintain the Chapter House, and support the young men's learning experience. We need a team of volunteers to help us with our mission today and to maintain and grow it for tomorrow. There are many ways for alumni to volunteer with SigEp to shape our future. Learn more about volunteering with SigEp today at sigep.org/resources/alumni-and-volunteers! Or drop one of the three of us a note: Mike Hurst '74 stands proudly with his coveted SigEp Cudgel at his home in St. Louis. Another testament to his love for his fraternity. (Please reach out to Mike at md_hurst@yahoo.com if you know the story behind this Cudgel.) We are in a good financial position to manage these large ongoing costs; however, we realize a total house replacement in the next 15-20 years may be required. Therefore, the board has developed a plan that includes setting aside appropriate capital each month for an anticipated major expenditure. At our annual meeting in December, we approved our financial reports and elected directors for the coming terms. But most importantly, we said goodbye to long-term Alumni Board Director Mike Hurst '74, who is taking a well-deserved retirement. Mike also has served as board secretary, treasurer, housing chairman, president, and leader of the house rebuild effort. The organization, professionalism, and financial support he brought to MO Gamma puts him on our Mount Rushmore of outstanding alumni. Mike has agreed to take on one final project: the establishment of a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit to allow tax-free growth for funds to support housing and scholarship funds. Thanks, Mike, for your many years of dedication to Missouri Gamma!
