PAGE 1 OVER 120 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE W hen you think back to receiving your bid to Beta Mu Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, what was your reaction? How did you feel stepping inside the Chapter House for the first time? How different were you when you graduated from when you arrived on campus? Where would you be today if not for your Fraternity experience? On August 8, 1839, over 185 years ago, our eight founders formed Beta Theta Pi to establish an order they believed would embrace the good of their Fraternity peers without any of their objectional features. These remarkable young men created an organization that endures, serving its members, our great colleges and universities, and our communities, a testament to the strength of their ideals. This is our Fraternity. Beta Mu has been a part of Beta Theta Pi and Purdue University for over 120 years. Our over 2,700 initiates are men who came from the farms, towns, and cities of Indiana and elsewhere, who grew as Fraternity members and citizens and who have gone on to serve the communities they call home. Our members have distinguished themselves in almost every field of human endeavor, often starting while still in college at Purdue. These men include business leaders, lawyers, doctors, investors, dentists, military leaders, farmers, educators, and renowned athletes … all proud Betas from West Lafayette. Fraternity life at Purdue University may look a little different now, but one thing has remained the same: Beta Theta Pi's mission of building men of principle for a principled life.
