2 Beta Theta Pi C ulture! It is a proud time to be a Gamma Lambda Beta as the house continues its cultural pursuit of excellence passed down by our alumni of Bridge Builders. As we reflect on the fall semester of 2024, it's clear that Gamma Lambda has continued to excel in every aspect of fraternity life. From academics to athletics and philanthropy, our brothers have sought to uphold the values of Beta Theta Pi and created memories that will last a lifetime. Here's a look at some of the highlights from this monumental semester. CHAPTER GROWTH We ended the fall semester with 138 active members, reinforcing our position as the largest fraternity on campus. As we move into the spring semester, we anticipate adding 46 men to this number during the upcoming initiation. Thanks to the strong efforts of Will Mulready '25, we welcomed a fall class that embodies Beta's principles. Our new head of recruitment, Jaden Scamehorn '26, has put together a spring class of nine, soon to be pledged. We extend our deepest gratitude to the alumni who have supported recruitment efforts over the years, continuing to solidify Beta's dominance on campus. Our chapter is also incredibly proud to recognize three of our sophomore brothers—Carson Peters '27, Seth Taylor '27, and Luke Diener '27—who were named in the "Top 10 Freshmen" at Oklahoma State University. This marks consecutive years for Beta men to receive this recognition, showcasing the caliber of individuals we recruit and the dedication of our brothers to excellence both inside and outside the classroom. CULTIVATION OF THE INTELLECT Academic excellence remains the cornerstone of the Gamma Lambda Chapter, and fall 2024 was no exception. This fall, we exceeded a 3.5 GPA for the ninth-consecutive semester, achieving an impressive 3.56 overall, ranking 2nd among all fraternities. Among our brothers, 55 earned a perfect 4.0 (30% of the chapter), and 127 made the dean's list (3.50 or higher). Most notably, our fall pledge class set the bar high with a 3.72 GPA, showcasing their lifelong commitment to the cultivation of the intellect. Overwhelmingly outperforming the Greek IFC average of 3.31, we remain dedicated to fostering academic excellence as a key pillar of our fraternity experience. ADDING TO THE TROPHY ROOM Gamma Lambda Chapter continues to shine on stage and in competition. Partnering with the amazing women of Chi Omega for Freshmen Follies, our talented brothers delivered a remarkable performance, winning second place and adding more hardware to an already overflowing trophy room. Among those awards were Best Choreography, Most Comedic, and Most Philanthropic, a testament to our creativity and commitment to giving back. As our Varsity Revue pairing with the women of Alpha Chi Omega continues preparation and rehearsal, we are confident our men will continue the tradition of dominance on the stage. On the court and field, our brothers dominated the athletic and intramural scenes. The first annual Greek Basketball Association league saw our men triumph as champions over all other fraternities on campus, with the incredible BRIAC court hosting many of these victories. Continuing throughout the fall, Gamma Lambda Chapter men brought home championship trophies in ultimate Frisbee, sand volleyball, soccer, and bowling accompanied by numerous sorority volleyball and softball tournament wins. HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES Gamma Lambda's sixth year in the Alumni Association's House Dec Competition was a resounding success. Under the leadership of Mitchell Weida '25 and Foster Hendrickson '25, the men of principle alongside the incredible women of Kappa Delta soared to new heights in this historic Greek tradition, achieving 2nd place in the House Dec Competition. Bonding as brothers and getting closer with different sororities has cultivated memories that will last a lifetime. Beyond Homecoming Dec, Josh Stephens '25 proudly represented Beta as one of five men selected as Homecoming Royalty. This honor, based on scholastic excellence, campus involvement, and character, reflects Beta's enduring reputation as a fraternity of men of principle. Congratulations, Josh, on this well-deserved recognition! CONCLUSION On behalf of the active members, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the alumni whose presence, involvement, and support have propelled the Gamma Lambda Chapter to new heights. Your impact cannot be fully expressed or quantified, and we remain committed to finding tangible ways to honor your contributions in the years to come. In keeping with the historical legacy of achievements by those before us, rest assured that your chapter brothers are striving to follow in your footsteps by keeping Beta distinguished from all other fraternities—not because of our achievements, but because of the men inside the house and those whose footsteps we follow.
