UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY WINTER 2025 Updates from California Alpha I n July 2024, when the Alumni and Volunteer Corporation supporting SigEp at Cal sent our last newsletter, we had no undergraduate brothers. We have since completed the first three of the planned steps for the return: • Step 1: Research and Planning – DONE • Step 2: Securing SigEp HQ and University Support – DONE • Step 3: Building a Founding Membership – DONE! Yay! • Step 4: Establishing Traditions and Programs – IN PROGRESS The success in recruiting was, especially initially, thanks to the diligence of our HQ staff members, shown in the photo below. (We did not really lock them up in Alcatraz. They were "just visiting" they told us!) With the HQ staff's commitment and with dedicated support from the newly recruited brothers, we have laid a foundation for an outstanding SigEp at Cal chapter. This is an impressive group of brothers! In order of joining, our 26 new brothers are: TWENTY-SIX REFOUNDING BROTHERS! The brothers and HQ staff enjoy an axe-throwing outing. HQ staff, from left: Chapter Support Specialist Adam Bridges, Idaho Beta '24 and Expansion Managers Lukas Parrish, Missouri Alpha '24 and Judson Moore, Mississippi Beta '24. Our expansion managers have new assignments for the spring but will still help in a remote mentoring capacity. Adam will continue direct support this spring. Collin Lee (San Francisco, Calif.) Fraternally Chuck Stegman, Colorado Alpha '81 AVC President sigepfincomp@gmail.com T o conclude the successful semester, 24 of our 26 new brothers escaped from Berkeley to Point Reyes for a retreat full of scenic views, entertainment, recruitment training, and the Burning Heart ritual in November. Every attendee had a chance to get to know each other on a deeper level and experience brotherhood. Brotherhood Retreat Chapter members exemplify the "sound body" part of the Balanced Man sound mind/ sound body philosophy during the November 2024 initial brotherhood retreat.
