2 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA T he brothers of Delta Nu had a well-defined and well-focused goal for fall 2024: recruitment. This focus led to the largest pledge class in the new era—and the promise for more growth, with brothers of all ages bonding through fun events and fundraisers. "I joined ATO because the members made me feel welcome from the beginning," new member Benet Neppl '24 said. "I quickly connected with them and felt that our friendships would last for life. The brotherhood connections made it the perfect place for me." Pledge Easton Wells '24 added, "The brothers were very welcoming, and it was easy to find myself at home at ATO." The chapter spent the spring and summer getting a jump on connecting with freshmen-to-be and furthering their friendships with fun events. Fourteen brothers also took a spring break trip to Mexico. As the summer came, those who stayed in Grand Forks had a blast together. They spent most of the summer golfing and tubing on the river. Membership Educator Mitch Nelson '21 and Recruitment Chairman Clark Sande '23 quickly started reaching out to incoming freshmen over the summer. When the welcome weekend came around, every brother volunteered to help with move-in day for the freshmen. The turnout for our hot dog night that weekend was amazing; we even had two pledges by the end of the night. The active chapter's bonds have never been stronger; we had so much fun getting to know the new members this fall. A highlight was attending hockey games as a chapter—although it is tough to save almost 50 seats at the Ralph. Also, our annual hot dog feed philanthropy raised over $1,500 between the spring and fall 2024 semesters. Our 20 pledges were initiated on November 9, and we are honored to call this pledge class our brothers. Our winter formal in Fargo came soon after, complete with appetizers and camaraderie. We recently held elections and believe our chapter is in great hands. Brayden Boyum '23 was elected as the next chapter president, and we are very happy with the selection of Brayden and his executive board. Fraternally, Joe Schuster '22 Chapter President The State of the Chapter Is Strong Delta Nu Celebrates New Beginnings M aybe it's not Guinness World Record worthy, but Delta Nu hit a modern-day personal best as brothers welcomed 23 pledges (with 20 being initiated). It raised on-campus membership to 46, also a record high as the ATOs continue a banner second chapter in the new house. Recruitment Chairman Clark Sande '23 cited several keys to this year's successful recruitment. One, beat Sigma Chi. (OK, just kidding, we Greeks ultimately stick together.) First and foremost, Brother Clark said, is early contact. That means using social media postings, particularly on UND's Instagram, with prompt follow up by the recruitment team. Over 100 UND-bound freshmen learned about ATO before even setting foot on campus. (Wait until the team fires up AI…) Brother Clark noted three other important factors to getting new Taus on board: quality, quality, quality. This pledge class is loaded with really good guys who will stand out as ATOs, according to the undergraduates and alumni who've met them. The other attractions are the patio and fire pit at 3000 University Avenue, which drew students like a magnet. The members came away from the experience with the factor that applies to everything from sports to business: momentum. "We're pumped for next year already," Brother Clark said, noting the chapter plans to build on this year's success for 2025. Welcome to this year's new initiates, and kudos to Brother Clark and the entire chapter for a fruitful fall harvest! Fraternally, Dick Anderson '62 RECRUITMENT RECAP Congratulations to our initiated class of fall 2024!
