I originally joined Phi Mu because my older sister was a member. I met many of the friends she made in the sorority, and they were all welcoming. eir warmth and camaraderie drew me in, and I knew I wanted to be a part of the sisterhood! Alpha Eta is a strong Chapter in the Phi Mu family. I would say it has only gotten better over the years. e Chapter continues to win awards and attract star-quality young women who contribute to its enduring legacy of excellence. We all loved the Chapter House. I lived there during my junior year, and it was such a beautiful, convenient place to call home. It was great having my best friends just down the hall. One of my favorite memories is how we would all gather at lunchtime around the TV to watch e Young and the Restless. I can't believe that show is still on today! I graduated in 1978 with a degree in journalism. My time at Phi Mu was pivotal, not just for the friendships I made but also for the leadership skills I developed. Being placed in decision- making positions within the sorority helped prepare me for the career I would have. When I was young and first joined Phi Mu, I thought that aer college I would probably not be involved in the sorority again. I was wrong—and I'm glad I was! Over the years, I've served on various alumnae committees, spent countless hours writing recommendations for new members, and still keep in touch with some of my pledge sisters. Phi Mu truly offers a lifetime of friendships, and I am grateful that 50 years aer pledging, I am still a part of this wonderful sisterhood. It means everything to me to have my name as part of the house restoration! Personally, I always thought the Phi Mu house was perfect, but I realize the Chapter has outgrown its walls—and that's a good thing, as it's a testament to the Chapter's growth and success! For anyone who is a Phi Mu, it's wonderful to be able to give back to the Chapter by donating to the house fund. We must be able to compete with the other sororities down the row! I have been retired from a 31-year career in television news since 2007, and I've been enjoying these years with my husband, Wally. Our children are grown with their own lives and families, so we now have time to do the things we want to do. Recently, I've become a "gamer" and have taken up Mah Jong and Bridge. Both games require a lot of brainpower, and I'm trying to keep my mind healthy and active. I turned 68 in September, and while I think my brain is still sharp, my body isn't always as willing to get up and go. I like to spend my downtime reading, relaxing, and streaming TV shows. He chose to have the second-floor porch named after us, which was an incredible and unexpected gift. I spent many afternoons hanging out on that upstairs front porch, and now it will forever bear our names!" Why Phi Mu?
