Alpha Mu News Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Mississippi | Winter 2025 Congratulations to our Homecoming Queen, Vanessa Bonner '21! Our sisters on Homecoming Court! Emma Simpson '23, Vanessa Bonner '21, and Zoey Swan '22. A lpha Mu Chapter was happy to welcome alumnae back to campus to celebrate Homecoming in late September! The weeklong celebration included a variety of fun-filled events on campus and ended with the Ole Miss vs. Kentucky game on Saturday. Kappa Delta partnered with Pi Kappa Phi to design and build a float for the Homecoming parade, which sadly was rained out. We are proud that three of our members were elected by their fellow Ole Miss students to be members of the Homecoming Court. Senior Vanessa Bonner '20 was chosen to be Homecoming Queen, junior Zoey Swan '22 was elected to be a Junior Maid, and sophomore Emma Simpson '23 was elected to be a Sophomore Maid. Nominated by Kappa Delta, these three young women were presented at the formal hosted by the ASB at The Lyric on the Oxford Square and were recognized at halftime of the football game. Homecoming Queen Vanessa Bonner is from Houma, Louisiana, and the first in her family to attend Ole Miss. Despite not knowing anyone when she came to Oxford as a freshman, Vanessa became very involved on campus. She served as a Panhellenic recruitment counselor, the RebelTHON director of morale, an Ole Miss orientation leader and coordinator, and an Ole Miss student ambassador. She is majoring in forensic chemistry and minoring in biology and psychology. Vanessa is pre-optometry and plans to apply to post-graduate optometry programs. Junior Maid Zoey Swan is from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Zoey is majoring in integrated marketing and communications and is a member of the Chancellor's Honor Roll. She is involved in many campus activities, including the University of Mississippi AD Club, the Rotaract Club, the Kindness Club, and Ole Miss Caring Companions. Zoey also served the state chairman for the Kappa Delta recruitment team. Sophomore Maid Emma Simpson is from Boca Raton, Florida. She is a public policy leadership major with a minor in journalism. Emma is currently the recruitment chairman for Alpha Mu and is involved on campus as a student ambassador, orientation leader, member of CRU, and with the Catholic Campus Ministry. A few weeks after Homecoming, our very own McKenzie Cox '22 was crowned Miss University 2025! McKenzie is an integrated marketing communications and public policy leadership major from Concord, North Carolina. She will serve the chapter as VP of Finance this year. The Miss University Scholarship Competition is an official preliminary for the Miss Mississippi and Miss America competitions. McKenzie will represent the university throughout the year at speaking and entertainment engagements and will compete for the title of Miss Mississippi during the summer of 2025.
