THE CORDELT BETA OMICRON CHAPTER OF DELTA TAU DELTA AT CORNELL UNIVER SI T Y FALL 2024 Preparing Our Shelter for the 135th Will You Help Us Get Ready? B rothers, I write to you fresh off a wonderful Homecoming weekend in Ithaca. We had a large turnout of dedicated alumni across generations—the key ingredient that makes our Homecoming celebration second to none! While the list of those to thank for a successful Homecoming is long, I'd like to recognize Chris Litvin '06 for again leading the Kitchen Crew, as well as Alumni Chairman Matt McCormack '25, President Jatin Mukerji '25, and the entire undergraduate chapter for welcoming us back. I'd also like to congratulate Young Hur '11 for winning this year's Willard Straight Alumni Service Award and Joe Wilson '76 for the Alumni Achievement Award at Karnea earlier this year! I also write to you with great excitement after seeing our newly renovated Shelter. The $1.5 million Phase 1 renovation project is nearly complete, and the Shelter looks transformed. This phase focused on the bathrooms, the foyer, and the dreaded kitchen grease trap and hood. After some slow going over the summer, the contractor made great progress to get things ready for Homecoming, and the overall project is ~90% complete. As Phase 1 concludes, we are turning our focus to some smaller renovations in 2025 before our 135th anniversary celebration. The celebration and Shelter rededication will occur on October 4, 2025. Eric Stucker '13 and Drew Reilly '12 have been elected as co-chairmen of the 135th Planning Committee. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to me or them. It's going to be a great event, so we hope to see you all there! We also made some changes to our Trustee roster during Homecoming this year. I'd like to thank Jack Thompson '73, Tom Sweda '82, John Pirie '83, and Graham Seward '07 for their years of tireless service to Delt as they enter the position of Trustee Emeritus. And I'd like to welcome Dan Shaw '10, Matt Scott '12, and David Wolfers '23 as our newest Trustees. The undergraduates have been busy this semester as well, as evidenced by Jatin's report on page 3. Their top focus for the remainder of the year is recruitment. Noah Diamond '25 and Marty Stallone '25 are leading that effort, so please email them at ndd27@cornell.edu if you have any referrals. The world needs more Delts, and our men are focused on making that happen! The Our Home, Our Legacy campaign has been a wild success, and I'm excited to finally see the fruits of our labor. We could not have gotten to this point without the tremendous generosity of each of our donors and volunteers under the leadership of Sonny Sonnenstein '90. If you have not yet contributed, or if you are able to grow your contribution in any way, please know that we would greatly appreciate your generous support to ensure future generations of Delts have access to a world-class experience. You can join us by using the enclosed pledge form or giving online at betaomicroncampaign.causevox.com! In closing, it is a great honor to serve this amazing brotherhood, and I've never been more optimistic for the future of our fraternity. As always, if I can be of assistance, or if you have any thoughts or ideas, please don't hesitate to reach out. Be well, and remember, "It's a GREAT day to be a Delt!" Fraternally, Mike Bonacum '10 House Corporation President mbonacum@gmail.com Chris Litvin '06 works his magic in the kitchen. Mike Bonacum '10 speaks at Homecoming (with Justin Hedin '10 in the foreground!). The completed Shelter lounge is a big hit with our brothers!
