A
t Homecoming, the chapter was
presented with a new, illuminated
Phi Kappa Theta badge produced
by Tim Stolp, brother of Greg
Stolp '84. The original badge
was no longer usable and posed a
fire hazard due to exposed wiring and
damage from being dropped. The badge
hung on the main floor of the chapter house
for decades before Tim rebuilt it this summer. The
History Committee, Building Corporation, and
Alumni Chapter consulted on the project.
Now retired, Tim was a homebuilder in central
Iowa and a commercial master electrician. One of
his hobbies is woodworking. He built a new badge
with LED lights. He was able to incorporate the
original center shield with the gold letters and heart
on the black background in the new badge. Tim
donated his time, and the Alumni Chapter covered
the cost of materials. It is a masterful composite of
new and original components.
The undergraduates used the new badge during
initiation week this fall. Through Tim's talent
and expertise, Phi Kaps at 2110 Lincoln Way will
again associate their initiation with an illuminated
Phi Kappa Theta badge!

Classic Recap
W
e enjoyed conducive weather during the
2024 Phi Kappa Theta golf tournament at
Veenker Memorial Golf Course on August 17.
Attendance was the lowest in quite some time with
only 32 attendees, but the undergraduates had a
strong showing!
Tom Carpenter '75 and John Shaw '75 won the
green jackets, shooting a great score of 70. The event
was an excellent opportunity for brothers to get
together, reminisce about the good old college days,
and catch up on their lives.
Afterward, the standard fare of barbecue and cold
beer helped replenish the men's energy before
the usual general announcements. Donations this
year went to the Men of Character fund, which is
being used to pay for the planned new sign for the
chapter house. Thanks to Chris Holmquist '16 for
his leadership in coordinating this annual event.
