ΑΓΡ gamma crescent Gamma Chapter of alpha Gamma rho fraternity at penn State | fall 2024 Inside 2 thank you, DonorS! 2 a Brother Built By Gamma 3 alumni newS 4-5 offiCer reportS I would like to update you on where our chapter currently stands. Gamma Chapter has worked through the suspension process successfully. In August 2024, the chapter started under probation but functioned as an active chapter and recruited new members (they held a very active recruitment week and initiated a good group of new men). They have been participating on campus in many activities, including Homecoming and Greek Sing, and were recognized by The Home Office in a recent AGR publication for raising more than $100,000 for pediatric cancer (read more by scanning the QR code or go to tinyurl.com/agr-gamma-fundraising). Undergraduate Efforts This fall, undergraduates continued a training program, sponsored by Plaid through The Home Office, with the goal to give them a better idea of who they currently are, how to function as an organization, and how to make better decisions as a group. I attended one of the sessions in person and was very proud of the mission statement the undergraduates developed. We still have good young men in the house, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. The chapter received notice from Chapter Advisor Corey Hudson '99 that he has resigned his position. He is willing to stay on until we can find a replacement. I want to thank Corey for his help and service to Gamma Chapter over the years. We are actively recruiting a new advisor, so if you know of anyone qualified for the position or would be willing to help the chapter, please respond to me at the contact information to the right. Chapter House Updates We needed to replace the pump for the industrial dishwasher this fall, as the motor and dishwasher cabinet were original from our 2010 update to the house. The alumni board decided to not fully replace the cabinet, just the motor. The cost for the project came in at $2,200. We are also going to need to replace the third-floor bathroom floor over Christmas break at an estimated cost of $8,000. Also original from 2010 update, it is showing wear and tear. The second-floor bathroom floor is looking to be replaced in summer 2025. We are also continually working to drive down our mortgage debt. In fall 2019, our mortgage sat at $930,000. With the help of undergraduates' rent and alumni donations, we have brought the mortgage down to $563,000 in fall 2024. We would love to continue making extra payments to keep bringing it down, but we'll need alumni support to keep that progress moving. If you can help us in the process, it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to encourage all alumni to get involved with the Gamma alumni group in some way or another. We are always accepting help, which can come in the form of giving time, expertise and advice, and/or financial support. If you would like to become more involved, please contact me or others on the board. We would love to hear from you. We are Penn State, Gamma Chapter.
